considering an engine conversion
currently have 3.0v6 auto using around 22l/100kms
i tow a heavy trailer for work so economy is never going to be in my favour,
any way what would this cost me?
was thinking perhaps a commodore supercharged 6 of some sort of turbo diesel? what do you think? what sort of engine will be able to tow and be good offroad while still keeping economy?
any comments appreciated

engine conversion

This is a pretty cool conversion. It's transplanting a 4M41 into a gen 2 shorti but could be worth looking into for a Gen 1.

yeh that would be good or u could look at the izuzu range of engines they are very strong motor and u could find a good one out of a late model jackeroo reck.
as for petroll comodore v6 would probly be easeasist or a 3.5 mitsu

There's a link from that thread to a South African who did the 4M41 (DiD) into Gen 1. I think that would be your best bet for fuel economy.hudson44 wrote:This is a pretty cool conversion. It's transplanting a 4M41 into a gen 2 shorti but could be worth looking into for a Gen 1.

For ease of conversion & availability of parts, I think the Commodore V6 conversion would be your best bet. Rather than supercharger, I'd consider a performance rebuild of the n/a motor before installation - the commodore s/c 3.8 doesn't have spectacular figures.
Cheers,
