Diff forward on a GQ
Diff forward on a GQ
Has anyone moved there front diff forward more than 2"?
Spoke with superior and they say that the drop boxes they have move it about 10-15mm then u can use little 10mm spacers for the arms but thats only about 20-25mm..... not enough!
Anyome else done it?
Cheers

Re: Diff forward on a GQ
why do you need to move it more? most people only move it 10-15mm to start with?justinshere wrote:Has anyone moved there front diff forward more than 2"?

hmmm.. but then you would have to move the rear diff back also. Theres alot more work if u move the cab, engine mounts Gbox fuel tank etc etcMKPatrolGuy wrote:How about moving the cab and driveline back on the chassis. Can go back as far you want (within reason) this way.
something to consider though... thanks

There used to be photos on here, but that was a few years ago, there has been a few server crashes since then.justinshere wrote:Thanks Wendle

It was orginally one of the first Overkill 5-links, but I ended up changing some of the brackets to get it to behave the way I wanted and making longer links to move the axle forward.
All I did to the panhard was to move the axle end up to match the flatter drag-link angle I got with the MQ stuff. It sort of ended up mounted next to the coil spring. I think I put more bend in it to clear the diff centre on compression, from memory?
as i am doing this as well and changing my front suspension to custom 5 link as well as coil over front i would of thought 50mm be about max you could move it froward with out getting too much angle on your panhard as well as steering arm wouldn't it?
i got under mine and was thinking i would have to move the panhard mount chassis end and steering box forward which seemed alot of work

That my plan exactly, i have 18" travel coilovers and i wanna squash them in the front. But trying to get enough movement out of a 5 link with limited space isnt gunna be easy.Bartso wrote:as i am doing this as well and changing my front suspension to custom 5 link as well as coil over front i would of thought 50mm be about max you could move it froward with out getting too much angle on your panhard as well as steering arm wouldn't it?

The less things i have to chop off n move the better!
Ive been told that instead of moving ur steering box, use one from a GU- box and arm. Apparently it puts the draglink forward more, can anyone confirm this? has anyone done it?
Have u startd urs yet Bartso?

Could get some custom Arms made up. On track sell '2DE' arms which are custom made and not too exspensive. I'm sure if you asked nicely or waved some cash in their face some custom length ones could be made.
Anything is possible, it just comes down to time and money.

just having a look the steering arm itself could be moved forward prob about 100mm without moving the box and parnhrd maybe?
instead can we make a custom panhard that has a bend in it moving it forward?
what kind of mods are we talking about in the steering arm moving it up at diff end or lowering it chassis end?

I dont know about puttin a forward bend in the panhard. Have to look into that. Might work though, would save alot of trouble i think.Bartso wrote:just having a look the steering arm itself could be moved forward prob about 100mm without moving the box and parnhrd maybe?

If u drop a GU box/arm in there it would lower the draglink on the chassis end. Then jus gotta contend with the panhard.
Check this out, its the GQ and GU box. (Scroll down abit) GU is on the right in the top pic, left in the bottom one.

Rather than swap the GU box/arm i know of a place that makes a Histeer arm for a GQ hub, it lifts the draglink on the hub end 6" Its about $750 though. GU box/arm is prob cheaper...

also im doing the mq swivel hub swap as well so a higher steer arm would be out of the question
i don't think there would be a prob with a forward bend in the panhard rod but i don't know anyone see a prob with this?

This is what i might do. Since ill be running coilovers ill have room there to put it above the housing.Wendle wrote:Move the axle end of the panhard so the panhard is above the axle instead of in front of it.
Does anyone see a prob with doing that, putting the panhard on top instead of in front of the housing???
