80 series side steps

Post by thomasando »

Probably an obvious question, but I just want to make sure... will steps from an 80 series GXL fit onto an 80 series Std?

I am pretty sure the standard/dx and rv spec models are missing the 2 centre m8 mounts for the gxl sidesteps.

I tried to fit a set to a mates 95 model RV the other week and this is what i found. The aluminium sidesteps arent very rigid without the 2 middle mounts.

They arnt very rigid with all the mounts anyway. :!: They wont fit a DX, RV or getaway without doing a little mod. Better off getting steel ones that clamp to the rails. Only have to space the brake lines (or bend them a little) to get them on.

Excellent guys, thanks for the heads up - I won't pursue the GXL steps any further! More worthwhile mods to spend the money on anyway (even though they're cheap).
