speedo needle bouncing

Post by tritontray »

Hey all,

My speedo needle bounces up and down while driving.

More so it lower speeds; i.e. up to 80klms. Then settles above that.

I would like to fix it, but can someone give me any back ground on how the needles work? is it a cable, is it just something i need to tighten. baSically if anyone has any experience with this I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Check the cable for tight corners, binds or heat damage from the exh.
Remove the inner cable and clean it. Then lightly grease the lower 2/3s of the inner cable. Excess here will can work its way up into the speedo head which can be terminal

Pulled out Pajero cluster and Challenger cluster out of my 4bys, the Challenger has the same dash as the Triton and pretty sure they are all eletronic speedo.....as in no cable to cluster. I would be checking on the connection to the gearbox.
