I pinched the whole shebang out of a VP, VR, etc Commodore. It is on the driver's side near the front, holds six fuses and I think 10 standard auto relays, plus five fusible links. And you can get the existing terminals out and solder new cable into them. I also grabbed the steel bracket they mount ...

fully loaded up with large roof rack bag I got 11L/100km travelling to Coffs Harbour. This was on 31" Cooper ST, and sitting on 90-95km/h all the way.

Coming back we sat on 105-115km/h and went through 15l/100km

City driving (Penrith to Sydney CBD), I normally get 600 - 650km from about 80-85l

I see quite a few 2.8s getting around (people just don't want to sell them) The diesel will have better economy than the 3.5, but not sure if that always outweighs the extra price of diesel over petrol. considering I just paid 30c/l more for diesel over petrol yesterday I don't think it is really that important. I would be looking at either a 3.5 V6 or a 2.8 TDI, forget the 3.0V6 (unless you are getting something imaculate, or want it cheap) and the 2.5 TDI is a little slow (but I don't mind mine ...

I would go (and would like to in the next few years) the NP DID pajero, for me it would be a tourer (only mild off road play, keep the NH for that).

or

I would get a 4WD Canter, (one of the tour buses) keep some of the seats up front and get the rear fitted out.
