That would be my initial thought too, talk to a Denso shop and ask them to look up the specs of the 2 pumps for comparison.

Re: 1HDFTE Conversion in V8 100 Series Lexus LX470

Apologies for the misinformation, I stand corrected - just took a look at the Toyota CD again and yes the A750 vehicles had the 3.9:1 ratio.... Does the 8" centre from a live axel front fit into the IFS? If so, I might try and source the 3.7:1 from the newer V8 Troopy... Yes, although the Toyota ...

Re: 1HDFTE Conversion in V8 100 Series Lexus LX470

I also discovered that the 2006 and possibly earlier HDJ100R with the 5spd auto had 4.1:1 diff ratios while the 4spd auto HDJ100R hd 3.9:1 diff ratios. Since the LX470 has 4.1:1 diff ratios, I am in no hurry to change them (I thought I needed to change to 3.9). All Aussie HDJ100's with the 5 speed ...

Only applicable to RFS (live axle) models, IFS are fine as the sensor is on the wheel hub.

Re: 1fzfe gearbox - 3f?

The FJ80 (3F) used the H150F box, the FZJ80 used the H151F box.

They should interchange / bolt in by swapping bell housings, but the input shaft will be wrong.

Re: Viscous coupling 80 series

Assuming you were in low range, the centre diff lock (CDL) should have engaged, yellow light on dash, and you should have 50/50 front/rear drive. If you were in high, and the modification of adding the non VC 80 series centre diff lock switch to the dash had not been done, then you would have ...

100's with ABS don't run a LSPV.

Perhaps the increased COG and stiffer rebound shocks are keeping the wheels from good contact with the ground?

Same figures for all 3 trannys. The manual does have a power limiting function via a switch on 1st gear though.

The FJ80 had the H150F gearbox, just like the HZJ80's, but the bellhousing will be different and possibly the imput shaft too. FZJ80 and HDJ80 had the H151F, only difference is that ratios of first and 2nd gears respectively were taller than the H150F, and the input shaft is bigger. No 80 series had ...

Depends on what sort of reliability you're after, power and fuel efficiency you expect, etc. The 1HZ in the 100 is more frail than earlier models, and has to work harder dragging the larger truck around. The fuel system ideally needs to be in tip top condition, as the 100's are getting on nowdays ...

The 105s at the mine I used to work at got a serious flogging 24/7 (1998 models cut down to twin cabs with trays) and none of the gearboxes failed, according to the LV fitter. But they were NA 1HZs more than likely de-tuned. And if they were running in low range the torque loading is substantially ...

The gearbox in the HZJ105's is the R151F, same as TD Prado and Hilux, i.e. much lighter vehicles.

In the HZJ105, behind the 1HZ and particularly with aftermarket turbo, larger wheels, more weight, etc, etc they give trouble as they tend to be a little overstressed.

The turbo which toyota matched to the 1HD-T (essentially the same engine, just different injection and head) is too small? Well the 1HD-FT and 1HD-FTE are "essentially the same" engines too, yet no 1HD* engine runs the same turbo. High EGT's are caused by not enough boost, turbos that are too small ...

If it is all working correctly, then yes it will lock in 3rd or 4th gears.

You should be able to see all this happen on the tachometer while driving.

I think the fact that you can hear the miss through the oil cap means the compression is getting into the sump. I'd guess cracked piston (unusual) or broken ring(s).

The CT26 is smaller than ideal for the 1HZ, causing greater heating of the intake charge and less air mass, therefore higher EGT's. It will be better than no turbo, but not as ideal as the right turbo. The fitment of a boost compensator (BC) means that they can tune it for higher peak power (exactly ...

They're essentially the same box, however the 1st and 2nd ratios in the TD box are taller.

You'd need to change your clutch plate to match the larger input shaft.

I think the rear HZJ105 R151F housing is different, so it matches the HF series t/cases and makes it equivalent in length to the H boxes.
