Thanks for the replies - I was wondering whether to try "Silvo" silver polish. It is a very fine abbrasive plus some chemical action, I think. It's a bonzer on stainless steel. Has anybody used it on aluminium? I might give it a go on a small area underneath.

Polishing an aluminium bull-bar

Gidday everyone, I am about to take delivery of a '96 Jeep Cherokee XJ, which has an aluminium bull-bar. Except for the back side of the top (which is painted matt black), it is bare aluminium. It was no doubt nice and shiny when new, but time has taken its toll and the aluminium is now covered in a ...

Gidday sinner, Coincidentally, I am in the process of buying an XJ which has already been converted. This one has had a cylinder (60 litre usable) slung underneath where the petrol tank originally went. A new (60 litre) petrol tank is fitted in front of the LPG tank. The disadvantages of this ...

I should have taken the bet. A new fuel filter and the old girl is running as sweetly as a well-oiled sewing machine. Thanks anyhow. I will give the ignition system a good going-over on the weekend, just to be sure to be sure.

FJ60 running like the hairy goat - HELP PLEASE

Hi all, My old 1983 model FJ60 started causing problems last night - at first it was missing intermittently, but soon was jerking badly. When I pulled over, it seemed to idle OK. Then when I set off again, it was the same only worse. After a couple of km, it was too bad to drive any further. I left ...

Thanx

Thanx for the replies. It looks like the Jeep goes to the top of the short list. The fuel consumption is crook, but not as bad as a petrol 'Cruiser. Browsing the comments an American Jeep forum, it sounds like they are built like a tank. The only recurrent troubles seem to be cracking of the exhaust ...

Newbie Questions about Jeep Cherokee

Gidday all, I need to replace my rusty old FJ60 Land Cruiser, and browsing thru a dealers yard, I was surprised by the low price of second-hand Jeeps. Looking further on the Net, there seem to be quite a few with under 150,000km going for $8-10k. Can anyone give me some advice on the 1990s models of ...
