I used to hang out in the daihatsu forum a long time ago , I have an old rocky atm.

Thinking about buying the ol man's Terrano 11
It is a 99 model whith turbo diesel
has 112000k on it never been in 4wd , so far :)
I have done lots of searches but thought i would also ask here as well ...

Iv Always been a bit suspect on my ol f75 tipping,
But going straight up hills she seems alright to me went out a couple weekends ago with a 2000 3ltd Patrol and a mitsubishi express ute wich was lifted , but the patrol was stock with Brand new yokies all terrain we went down a big hill wich loocked ...

Iv been thinking bout a turbo too But maybe you should think can my non turbo motor take it ?? the factory turbo motor of a rocky is not up to it for a period of time as iv been told ,
to get the most out of a turbo you will need a bigger exhaust than standard anyway ,
Im about to get a 2.5 ...

Check for cracks in the pillar near the windscreen ,
when i looked at a few one had a bad crack all the way thru
next won had been welded not sure if this is a usual prob. with them
but when i bought mine i looked close at it.

because in my ol 86 rocky i still needs to slam doors to get them to close but with the sun roof open its easy!!~!!! only done 130,000 ks though not much for a diesel

3.363 diff reduction is for diesels petrol 3y is 3.909
flat tray is lower again but dont know how much?

I priced some springs at tjm a few months ago they were about the same price, but i had to pay for freight to Tasmania and they wouldnt tell me the cost to get them here,
and they were a pain in the ass to deal with,
kept saying with a laugh, you want new springs for a daihatsu rocky
so no more ...

All the bits fell through on the hilux convertion suspention on my rocky so im after a few cheap options

1. Anyone had anything to do with iornman suspention ?

2. would it be better to reset my springs 2 inch add an extra leaf and get 2inch extended shackles.

Or reset springs, take out the ...

I think a turbo rocky is about 74 kw intercooled is a bit more non turbo is 54kw gross weight for diesels from 1,805 to 2,020kg Australian models ,english ones are slightly hevier,
And close to 200kg hevier than petrol of the same model.
but thats going from an older manual this may of changed a ...

can get hilux gear cheap engineering may be a prob.
if i go re_set springs should i get an extra leaf all round or will the less flex be a down grade?

Thanks for that iv got leaf all round but want a front diff lock without welding just wanted to know if hilux would swap into rocky if i can get everything cheap enough.
might look at this later .

I remember in a thread hi_lux was 3 inches narrower than a wide track
to change over the tail shafts diffs ect. does any one know how much narrower the 86 rocky is compared to the wide track ?
or how hard it is to give hilux blood to the ol rocky ?
in running gear wise.

I looked into it a while ago,they emailed back asking if i wanted the 4.2 or the 2.8 turbo so it all got too hard for me about then,
which one did u get and how bad of a fit was it ?

Just about to get my springs re_set on 86 rocky just wanted to know should i get an extra leaf all round or will it take to much out of the articulation and should i get 2 inch extended shackels at the same time .will this help in travel and make up for an extra leaf ?
