1.3L Transfer noise.

Hi all, Recently put a bearing kit through my standard 1.3 transfer. All bearing noise has now gone and it's much nicer to drive... But I now have a clunking noise when i take my foot off the accelerator and remove load. It also makes an interesting clunking noise as i slow down, at speed its fine ...

I just put a transfer lever kit through mine and it engages a lot more convincingly now. The kit comes with a bush the lever sits into, a new rubber boot and retaining ring and 2 replacement ball bearings and springs (used to hold the internal shifting shaft into position, and the spring is longer ...

On the gearbox there are about 4 sensors... The reverse switch is the one closest to the top and i think about the second one from the front of the box.

Had my gearbox out twice in the last week, fun times.

Do you know its a faulty switch?

You window regulator is stuffed...

You will need to remove the door trim and replace the regulator. You will be able to find them on ebay, parts shops or motor wreckers.

So...

Pulled the unit out today to find some sort of oil over the outside of it... So I opened it up, there was a little but if oil on the inside and one of the capacitors (or something similar) has exploded. Damn.

So I am now looking for a radio repairer to take it to.

As mentioned earlier, I have checked coax cable and all is good... The bar does conduct, I've now tested for that. Thought it was a valid question though. Put a different radio in to test with all the same cables and it worked fine so there seems to be some sort of fault within my radio unit ...

Yeah I have checked the continuity from the plug end to the base of the antenna and all is fine on both the pin and the ring and i've checked for continuity between the pin and the ring and they're not shorted out so that should be fine...

Will try a ground cable when it's not raining!

Cheers!

Hi all, I have an icom UHF in my zook, I'm getting about a car-length range out of it at the moment... I think it worked on the way home when I bought the car but I've since put on an alloy bar. Did you use the zook springs or change them to something else?

Also, do the zook springs work with the hilux spring perch or will I need to weld zook spring perches onto the hilux housing?

Be heavy handed? You have to try to avoid bending the sealing surface as much as possible... When you get it off just lay it on a bench or something and try to lightly tap with a hammer and wide punch, or small socket to try to achieve a flat sealing surface again. If it goes in warped and bent ...

But I was sort of wondering if there should really be that much movement in the guage. At "normal" operating temp it sits at a quarter or less and with weight up hills she rises to half.

If the guages aren't really accurate that might be a substantial differ in engine temps.

Well boys I am now a Nissan owner! Or I will be this Sat...

Looked at this other one this morning and Gave him a deposit. The cooling system on this did pressurise unlike the other one. And everything else was excellent too.

Has the 4.2 Diesel got a timing belt or chain?

All sounds like the same kind of line I was thinking... The cap looked and felt pretty good but I didn't have a tester with me.

I'm looking at another patrol today so I can at least compare with that.. And I'll keep you posted with what happens with the other one!
