Hi all, I thought I'd better make a contribution as I just had a win with my Vitara tailgate handle which I thought I would have to replace, and I'm sure many Vitara owners have experienced what was happening to me. Not one to be beaten, I thought I'd remove the handle and see what was actually ...

When I did mine (only 35mm), I custom modded the strut brace as you suspected. What I did was to make 35mm tube spacers to lift it from the top of the strut towers so that the bracket didn't strike on the newly lifted body. Longer bolts are used to mount it too. Then, because it slopes inwards, the ...

Danssurf... can we ask that you take lots of pics and do a write-up on it in the tech section when you change the diffs over?
That would be really interesting to see... particularly how the widths go, and the suspension setup, etc.
Best of luck

I had a 3-core one in a Sierra once. It was apparently from Hiace, although I don't know the model, but I'm assuming an older one. It was certainly thicker than standard, but not massively, and I dare say that would be of great assistance if you were doing lots of offroad stuff, particularly on sand ...

Thanks for your opinions and input, guys. As was said, possibly some vehicles respond to it, whilst others don't. I'm interested because it seems a fairly cheap & easy mod, and we're all DIY'ers to some extent or another on this forum. Steve, the point you raise about the spacer being between the ...

Hi all, I have been reading with interest in the Nissan X-Trail Forums about a throttle body spacer going between the throttle body and the inlet manifold. This has the effect of seemingly giving more power and better response due to the alteration of the length of the throttle body assembly. In ...

Have you asked at your local Auto-One, Supercrap, etc?
They often have access to aftermarket fuel pumps. Last mechanical pump I replaced was about $69.
Its worth an enquiry, especially as you may get a pump in the end for half of the genuine cost... still with warranty.

Also have a look at the metal clips that hold the top tank on. If they have been painted, then the radiator has likely been apart before. It may not be an economical fix, which makes a replacement reco one a better prospect. Might have to price the both options.

Sounds like a pressure plate thrust bearing to me. In case you don't know what that is, its the bearing that pushes against the prongs on your pressure plate to de-activate the clutch when you change gears. In most cases it will be fine till you have to replace the clutch due to wear... or the noise ...

The early (1.6) Vitara blocks are known for cracks. If you buy one secondhand, look for telltale water or oil marks and hairline cracks...also welding from repairs.
I had two that had leaks near the oil pressure switch.

When I did my coily body swap years ago, it was a HT previously and I put a ST body on it.
NSW RTA made me put the plates from the original car onto the new body's firewall, but then registered it according to the numbers stamped on the chassis, as usual.

You won't see the problem from the outside. It will be the coils themselves breaking down and shorting out under load and when they're hot that will be the issue (if its the coils at all - which I reckon it sounds like it is). It'll just be a matter of trying a replacement pack.

Removing the swaybar is the first thing I do with every Vitara I buy. I drive it as normally as I do any car and find it has very little effect on-road. Vitara's aren't fantastic for flex anyway, but it helps a bit off-road in any case. They're easy to pop off. Drop it and drive for a week. If you ...

For a couple of hundred $$ you could always see whats around and pick up a complete body tub and just swap them over. Body swaps are good fun and you may even end up with something better than what you started with if you're prepared to look for a month or two.
