Re: How do front lockrites go on the beach?
I liked my lockrite better on sand than open diffs as it sort of helped keep the car running straight through heavy rutted beaches like stocko, where open you would pitch side to side. Great for climbing dunes, but when you get stuck, you really get stuck. Go for it, best few $$$ you will ever spend

Re: picture of my toughdog shock which let go
Ive always had good results with TD's, and from my time working in a 4WD store, we only had one return. The new TD's have a piece of tube welded to the shock rather than the piece of steel bent into position, so that failure wouldnt occur now. But I'm not really the best judge of shocks to be honest ...

Re: TRV SNORKELS
Agreed, Airflow is rubbish. Worst thing I ever put on my old Lux. When you put one next to a safari or Airtec, you can clearly see the difference in quality. Not to mention the fit was crap, and I have worked as a vehicle fitter for long enough to know whats what.

Re: coiling rn46 Lux
Hmm, no good. So I couldnt use 80 series coil seats and upper/lower control arm mounts on the axle, and the 4runner stuff on the HiLux chassis? I just dont see how having a different axle would make things so difficult. Sorry not trying to fight it, I just cant see how this would be a problem as I ...

Re: coiling rn46 Lux
The car already has an 80 series diff under it using leaf springs as mentioned and has been under there for years (and engineered for it). I want to use the panhard rod brackets, as well as the chassis mounts off the 4 runner on the Lux chassis, ands use coil seats etc off an 80 series to sort the ...

coiling rn46 Lux
Hey guys, thinking about converting my 1981 Lux to coils, and just wondering if I can do the 4Runner/Surf coil conversion on this chassis, or are the dimensions completely wrong? I have an 80 series rear diff under the truck already set up for leaf springs, so was going to use the 80 series lower ...

Re: Is the HZJ75 front diff the same as HZJ79?
Nope, 75 Series is much bigger and stronger than the 79 series. I think the 79 has more in common with the 80 series front diff, but not sure. Is it a high pinion front diff?

Re: TURBO MY 3.0L DIESEL HILUX?????
If it has an ecu, best bet would be to fit a DP chip as well so you can talk to the computer and boost the fuel as well. A DP chip by itself wont do much, but when combined with a turbo they make a nice difference.

Re: ironman commercial bullbar for LN106
I payed about $900 for my xrox which isnt far off the money. Honestly, we have heaps of people coming through the store so we get to see and hear it all, and lets just say I wouldnt run one on my truck. The fitting is a pain, the steel looks thin, the welds arent as nice or as uniformed, and I have ...

1979 HiLux dash
Hey guys, I have recently picked up a HiLux with a 1979 model cab on it and the dash is rooted. Just noticed a dash from an LN65 for sale on this board, and was wondering if this would come close to fitting my cab? It does look different, but if there isnt much in it size wise, it could make for ...

The only reason i'm asking is I work for TJM so want to get as much gear on the truck as possible for promotional purposes. Hey guys, did a search but couldnt find anything on the topic. I had a similar problem when the terminals came loose on the switch on the control box to switch between the wireless and cabled controller. Cut them off and soldered the wire directly on and there hasnt been a problem since.

Had a Lock right in my Lux and it was awesome. The Spartans look to be a good thing as well, but the Lock right is proven and parts are more easily available. I guess it comes down to price.

Re: D22 2010 thai build duel battery system
There is no tray available for the twin starting battery model D22 mate as far as I know, this is from both Piranha and TJM. Your going to have to run a 3rd battery in your tray if you wish to run a dual battery system, as you will need both batteries to start the truck. Dont isolate the two ...

Bit steep mate, I just picked up a Shorty Maverick with lockers, barwork, 33's, snorkel blah blah for $5000 and it doesnt have anywhere near that amount of rust. $8-10K would be about right.

Brake cleaner and rags to clean the bellhousing once out is also a good idea. Also not sure how you are removing the spigot bearing, but you might need extra grease and the right size bolt to drive it out.

Re: hilux brakes
I had a similar problem when my front wheel bearing gave up. The wheel was wobbling side to side which spread the pads appart, so to get the brakes working I would need to give it two or three stabs on the pedal. Does still sound like your drums need some attention though, I also had an axle seal ...
