Re: Help to ID Turbo - New turbo fitted!!!
Well what a long time coming! Firstly before i say too much Frank at A & B Auto is a very passionate man who knows his stuff and does quality work. He does everything with a side of OCD and i cannot fault his workman ship. He stuck to his quote and commented that he is not the typical workshop who ...

Re: Turning off timing belt light 80 series
i could be wrong but if you look at your instrument cluster there will be a blocked off hole. (opposite side to the odometer button).
Behind the blanking cap for this hole is the timing light button as far as i know.
Just be mindfull that once pressed it wont come back on for 100k kms.

Re: Help to ID Turbo
Hey Guys, Thanks for the replies. I would get it rebuilt but have been advised that plain oil cooled isnt ideal for a 4x4 simply because it wont keep as cool during low speed off road work. Plus from what i can work out if it is at the point that its making noise then chances are the shaft is worn ...

Re: 80 Series Tie Rod Ends

Re: 80 Series Tie Rod Ends
well that is what i dont really know......
either it is longer than OEM or the wheel alignment has just compensated for the shorter ends?
is there a centre to a steering box? Also does my first picture look like the pitman arm is in the correct position for the wheel pointing straight?

Re: 80 Series Tie Rod Ends
yeh i know thats where its meant to go however if i replace the shorter 2 on that front rod with the 2 longer ones from the kit then the overall length of that frst tie rod will increase significantly meaning that "centre" on the steering box would be pushed out (if you follow what i mean)

Thanks Matt, so if i wasnt looking to turbo it and it would only be a camping and medium offroad work then it would seem to be a good base. Nope no traction devices but not from lack of trying! They just dont exist. If your lucky you MAY find a LSD rear from some illusive models but good luck and other than that the only other option would be to weld the front diff but with my heavy foot i didnt want to do that. I went from the standard ...

Nah i didnt drill through. Would be easier but the thread on the bottom of the spotties wasnt long enough. All i did was get some 5mm steel (two peices per spottie one longer than the other) and sandwich the rack in between two peices. Then the spottie was mounted to the longer bit that acted like a ...
