TJM winch cradle
Guys has anyone got a pic of the TJM winch cradle for the 80 series. I am going to make one up but I'd like to see how TJM did it. I'm wondering if they did it in such a way to incorporate the adjustment points for the alloy mounts. As I see it if I just make something up it needs to come up from ...

Re: Loss of vacuum and brake booster assist - help
Done the finger test and it does hold my finger but without knowing how hard it should suck not sure if it's good or not, certainly not 16yo school girl good at any rate. Haven't found any specs anywhere yet to tell me what vacuum it should pull. Without finger sound is quite audible. Pump is not ...

Re: Loss of vacuum and brake booster assist - help
After some investigation today it turns out there was a blockage in the steel line between the pump and tank. Most likely a wasp nest of something, was really jammed in air would not shift it, hence no suck past that point. Went for drive and better but after an initial brake application any ...

Re: Loss of vacuum and brake booster assist - help
Thanks Shane I'll add that to teh list to check but not sure if that can happen in this case. The 1HD motors have a seperate vacuum pump that builds vacuum in a reserve tank. This tank has a one way valve which would not let vacuum leak back through the booster if it were faulty. I fhe leak was only ...

Loss of vacuum and brake booster assist - help
Hey guys, after sitting around in states of repair for over 12 months I finally got the truck driveable yesterday to find brakes are crap. I'm not getting any booster assist and the brake warning light remains on. Disconnecting the wire form the switch in the vacuum tank supports the problem as does ...

Re: Auto antennae for 80 series
I have spend some time playing around with the wires aswell to no avail. I couldn't choose which wire to power the antenna ECU off and just decided against it in fear of blowing it up. So i just bypassed a the ECU so I can use the Up/Down buttons. It would be great to get it to auto go up and down ...

Re: Auto antennae for 80 series
there are four wires running to the ecu (looking at the wiring diagram) they are red/green tracer red/blue red/black black/red It says they all comef rom the radio if you don't have the cd player or amplifier (stacker on sahara models is my guess) can't tell what voltage is sent to which and when ...

Auto antennae for 80 series
Guys I have checked this out a bit before and searched with no real result. My 80 has the auto + up/down button. I cannot work out how to wire it with the aftermarket head unit to get the antennae to trigger. I'm pretty sure my issue is the triggering as I know the antennae works with direct ...

Re: Butane/LPG soldering kits
I didn't mind the Dremel one I saw today for the price but it only has a fine tip soldering tip which lends it to mostly circuit board and very fine wire me thinks. My old Weller has a nice flat tip that's about 2-3mm but Dremel do not do any accessory one in that size so I'm now leaning towards the ...

Butane/LPG soldering kits
Hey guys I hope enough read this section to give me some feedback. I have had a Weller gas soldering kit for years. Converting Lightforce Genesis to HID

Re: Water to air intercoolers
Yeah Layto I started cutting up the Suburu unit to change things around a bit to suit me and fix a couple of issues but in the end decided it was still going to look a bit amatuerish and wouldn't sit as good as I wanted so I've plumbed otu for a proper water/air core of a better size to make tanks ...

Re: Water to air intercoolers
So obviously the bigger the radiator/exchanger the more scope to get the cooling right. I got the Suburu radiator with the bits I got but it looked far too small to be fully effective and would be about half the size of the available space and the rad I intend to put in. I'm hoping to find a simple ...

Re: Water to air intercoolers
Looks good, is topping up the oil hard? The test I have done for the core I have used showed great results. These little cores will actually flow and keep cool about 500hp worth of air flow. And no lag But yeah will definitely do a bigger one for high boost set ups like yours. How much power are ...

I've been using them for years. Every accessroy I put in my truck that requires a fuse (pretty much all of them) I use a circuit breaker instead. As already mentioned I used them on a DIN rail or bus bar. This also makes wiring a bit simplier as I use the bus bar as a common power feed so I only ...

Re: Chrome plating injector lines????
Another thought might be to look at the heat coatings. The silver coating can be buffed up to be pretty shiney. Doesn't look quite so ricer bling (good or bad depending on your opinion) and has the added side benefit of insulating the fuel in your lines and fuel rails. I've seen it on various parts ...

If you are going to store them then try and stor them out of the sun. Even look at packing them in garbage bags. Keepign them out of the sun will help them last a bit longer.

Re: Bosch 040 pumps failing
Some cars have a set-up you would find interesting, the pump is outside the tank and the return line feeds into a tee in the pipe between the tank and the pump. This highlights just how much the pump is meant to be "feeding itself". . My only concern there is does the fuel start to heat up a bit ...

can i run the pipeing nice and long or shorter the better? cheers The smoother the better. Exactly. Can't remember the figure but a 90degree bend equals a fair length of straight pipe as far as what it does to the flow of your system. Short and sharp is not the go compared to long and gentle but ...

What runs the spark in those. I remember a guy on here I think who couldn't get his motor to fire (not sure if original or V8 conversion) but he had intermittent spark and after chasing heaps of stuff realised the igniter or coil or similar was not bolrted down just sitting in bay and not earthing ...

Re: Room between inner/outer guard in 80
I don't think you will achieve anything. The length of run will stil be long and could actually be longer than the engine bay path and dropping it back out of the inner gap will still have to be down in the wheel well just infront of the radiator panel and then I think you will hae to dodge the ...

no doubt that will fix you problem now but I'm at a bit of a loss as to your original situation as we had a viscous equiped 80 in our club and for a fairly standard rig it went pretty much everywhere that equally set up vehicles did and even some places where us bigger trucks went. That drop will be quoted as air inlet temp (or outlet of turbo). I think the EGT drops a few guys around the traps have been mentioning is under 100 degrees, not huge but still beneficial but you would need to search a few of their posts on the various forums to confirm. As far as cooling turbo ...

Re: 80 Series Auto Antenna
If you really want a failsafe hook it into the CDL switch or CDL trigger wire. If you still have full time 4wd then it will trigger in low range and when you use the switch in high. If you have part time kit then it will trigger when you hit the switch in either low or high. Most likely you will be ...

Re: N00b paint question
I started with engine bay as it looked crap (even worse than original) and I figured it would be hard to do a worse job than the factory finish which is normally a matt greyish colour (for silver) or at best an uncleared body colour. Anyway I reckon first time is a bit scarey as it looked like I ...
