Re: Muffler type - Holden 5.0l EFI (304)
backpressure is a power and torque restrictor, an exhaust can be too big but thats to do with the gasses cooling too quickly and becoming a restriction I have seen dyno figures to the contrary, XA falcon with a 351 ran with full exhuast then pulled the exhuast off and ran with it straight from the ...

If you are considering entering any CAMS offroad events you may want a smaller motor, last I knew they limited motor size to 6L which is around 366 cubes

Re: dual battery amperage questions.
I'm pretty sure we use drivesafe's products (low voltage cutoffs) in the caravans at work and in the 5 years I've been there I can't think of any issues we have had with them, so I can say the reliabilty is great. Will have to look into upgrading to one of those new isolators after christmas.

when I did mine I swapped the 2 around. Left the smaller load leaf as it was and cut down the longer one to be a little bit longer than the perch.

I'm actually looking at doing the back batt myself...... When I get round to doing the setup in mine It will be running 2 B+S cables (pretty much starter cable size) from the main batteries to the rear ...

Re: why are the tyre sizes limited on a 16" rim?
The tyre shops want everyone to go to 16's because they are more expensive. They give the old speal "Its a better fitment from tyre to rim, and handle better in corners" which is total bullshit anyway as its un noticable between the 2 when fully aired. I found that the 16's being an inch smaller in ...

Re: why are the tyre sizes limited on a 16" rim?
Tyre manufactures say not to mount 35x12.5R15's on a rim, 8.5" is minimum width. I know this doesn't stop people its just the sort of little legal thing that you might get pulled up on or your insurance saying no. The 315/75R16 is suited for a rim width 8-10". So it can be mounted to your 16x8 rims ...

what about you plugs and leads? I took it to On Track 4x4 in slacks creek (Logan) and they replaced the fusable links and put new plugs and leads on it my guess is they're new, but as a few has said they are trying to eliminate the obvious and common problem parts next step is if the fuel filter is ...

Triton Dual Battery
Installed a Piranah offroad daul Battery tray in the Triton today and as it only fits a smallish battery I moved the starter battery to the new tray and am hoping there is now enough room to be able to fit a decent size deep cycle (hoping N70 size). You can undo the tape on the loom to separate the ...

I got an Interstate brand off of our battery supplier. Was $135+gst and is 100amp/hr. Not too sure how they are for quality, supplier told me they haven't had any returns in the 18 months they have been selling them. The donaldson G2 powercore will be no bigger than your existing filter: http://www.fleetmag.com/images/article/1192644955297_essentials_12.jpg Not cheap though, and pressure drop would be lower again if you fit a barrel style filter.
