Are U sure your clutch fan doesnt just need a refill with the right oil .
Fan, if OK should speed up when you increase idle & shut down quick when you snap the throttle shut. If it lags & spins its out.

Came across one in Cooktown recently which had come back from the Cape without bother. 2 adults, 2/3 kids etc BUT had blown the battery which is a rare low profile one. Had to get one shipped specially from Cairns next day. Fuses are special type not available elsewhere it seems. Other than the ...

A baggy 31x10.5 should be able to support the Paj unladen at a lower pressure than the original smaller tyres. If you run at 34-36 unladen you will surely wear out the centres & be up for early replacement. Have had some funny figures given by tyre "Professionals" for correct pressures eg 35psi for ...

Trtader parts mags advertise brand new boxes at $1250-1550-
May be cheaper than fixing old box if its more than bearings needed.
Also less time to instal.

I have one purchaesd on ebay for $155 + postage.
Do not buy a similar cheaper one at about $100.
The one I bought is identical to that posted above in similar bag
& on a flat 30x9.5 tyre it took 3 mins to bring it above 30psi.
Thats better than most except the compressor type.

1991 Triton TD engine life

I have a 91 Triton 2.5td with 221,000 kms on the clock and with a few minor mods it is going quicker than it was 4 years ago. The question I have is what life can be expected out of the motor in these as mine has no rattles (except on a cold morning) & heaps of grunt for its type. The front & rear ...

Have U checked the injector pump mixture. If it does not blow some black smoke occasionally it may be too lean & thats easy to adjust. It should spin free past 3000rpm. Maybe your muffler & air cleaner are blocked?
Also have pump timing checked, not too hard!

Be careful with these porti packs. Only the better ones may start a diesel.
Many wont. Lot of $$ to pay for a second battery unless its a quality job.

Seems to me that the chain could be more reliable & longer lasting. The genuine Mits belts (2) are not cheap plus an oil seal or two & maybe an idler pulley. I have heard of some belt breakages but not too sure of the details. The 2.8 chain drive sounds preferable to me. I shall be changing my belts ...

Eliminating balance shaft & belt!

I think I have seen some reference elsewhere to eliminating the balance shaft & its drive belt on a Mits, in particular my 2.5td. As I had a belt drop & the valve gear mangled a while back & it was thought that the bs belt may have tangled with the timing belt I would appreciate hearing if anyone ...

Yep, they were gas & from supercheap.
If I was going for long term shocks again I would shell out for some Konis. Having said that I do not know their current price but they are adjustable & VERY durable & can be reconditioned.

I have set of 4 on my Triton 4wd. They seem to work fine and are larger diameter than Fireflex I used to have.
Only done a few 100's kms so no long term experience.
Mine are white gas pressure & I paid $69.95 and a week or so later found they were 20% off. Thats life!

Jose, I have a 1991 2.5td Triton & as I got a set of 15x7 alloys cheap I fitted them with 30x9.5 tyres, same OD as original 205x16 . They have a fair bit of offset & on left or rh lock they scrape the mudflap screws/arches & a bit of mud build up would be a real problem The wider tyres also use more ...

Triton/Pajero gearbox solution!

I have a 1991 Triton 2.5td and the weak link seems to be the gearbox which had a kit in it a couple of years ago & is still a bit noisy in 5th at times. What I need to know is there any way to overcome this without massive expense? Can a later gearbox (which one?) fix the problem? Do I need a ...
