With regard to the OP, this got me thinking. If an auto locker requires one wheel to be travelling faster to disengage - will it unlock on steep downhill with one wheel in the air under engine braking only?? The wheel on the ground should be wanting to travel faster ( gravity + vehicle mass ) than t...

Auto lockers in part-time 4WDs work fine in the front - you don't notice on-road ( no drive & hubs unlocked ) the rear requires some respect with regard to driving style and weather conditions. They _SHOULD_NOT_ be fitted to full time 4WDs. they can have very nasty effects on steering and drivet...

Advice wanted from panel work gurus

It's time to cut the rust from the 4by and I want to to it right. When I weld in the new metal should I leave a small gap and butt weld (Trying not to blow through ) or put a step around the edge of the patch panel and recess this behind the original metal? Your advice - I want to put metal back in....

At least one manufacturer has some scruples ( can't remember which one though) They had a sticker on the jack that read :

" This device is not suitable for changing tyres "

They are inherently dangerous - but thay can be damn handy.

Guys, With regard to your insulation issues. There is a tape you can get which is used on HV cabling. If you know someone that works for one of the energy providors, you can ask them about it. IIRC you can only program a new key if the one that was in the Ignition previously is a " Master " or Primary key. You cannot program a new key if all you have is a "Sub" key.

killalux has probably nailed your starter issue. There is a set of contacts inside the starter housing that have probably worn out. $30 ish dollars in parts and 15-30 mins if you're half handy on the tools. Outside chance that you may need to add a relay to the starter circuit but not likely on an '...
