I'm assuming you talking about a 'Cruiser problem. If you want to you can replace the seal with the one used between the auto trans an the transfer case - it's double lipped where as the manual box type seal isn't. Hilux suffer the same fate too - and they can have a quick fix with the hose between ...

Pedders Trak Ryder shocks

Pedders Trak Ryder shocks - anyone used them, would recommend them or use another brand?

I believe they're about $140 each.

I don't think there's a lot of difference except the year of manufacture - and some cosmetics.

P76 V8 in a Rangie.

I'm just about to buy (or make an offer on) a sad and tired '84 4 door that has the 4.4 P76 motor installed with auto - I think the ZF. Are / were these a better motor than the origional 3.5 V8?

If an OK motor any problems in buying parts, reliability etc?

All opinions welcome.

Keep the 2F - just rebuild it (or an exchange short motor) - rings, bearings, mild cam, re-do the head for unleaded fuel if you want, 350 Holley, extractors, 3" system, maybe a HD clutch - a lot cheaper and no need for certification, insurance alterations, modified radiator to keep cool, adapter ...

Yeah, true enough. However, having the qualifications / knowledge necessary to do the conversions / mods etc I forget most people have to pay for labour which is a huge part of the cost I don't pay for.

Refit the standard manifold and have a 3" pipe all the way back with a nice flow through muffler.

It'll breath well and have a thumper note.

Not an uncommon issue, see the link - m Get a few quotes / opinions for repairs, the more the better if you have the time to do so and you'll be better informed. Cracks will be obvious but you could do your own chassis drop on flat level concrete to check for bends. All you need is a plumb bob ...

Having been a mechanic since 1977 I've seen a lot of makes and models on the underside and I always go for value for money and not necessary brand name suspension stuff - but that's just me. Not really into heavily customising either - easier for a resale and keeps the blue and red lights out of the ...

Try "On Track 4WD Centre" 1/66 Moss Street, Slacks Creek (next to Brisbane Car Sound). However, they sell new EFS suspension components but sometimes reset springs sag. There is also Pedders further up the road - again new stuff. If you plan on keeping the vehicle you're better off paying the extra ...

If you didn't do the stall test during the training exercise you'd be none the wiser on the engine cond - right?. Go on the trip and then worry about it.

Even if you did break down on your hols, which I doubt, have the vehicle transported home then decide what to do with the engine.

Don't forget the private sales - someone wrecking a cruiser at home.

Try the trading post or local paper. For $400 you'd want drum to drum and the driveshaft!

You don't have to reset the preload exactly but you can if you want to. It involves removing the diff from the housing, clamp it in the bench vise and use the Toyota SST for accurate settings and shimming. However, it's no different to removing the flange just to change a leaky pinion seal. So ...

I might be a bit late on this one but I will make one soon for my '84 Lux 2L. It'll be made out of 80mm PVC pipe available at most plumbing supplies and the necessary 45deg and 90deg joiners. The ram on the top costs $78 from ARB to suit the 80mm pipe but I'll try and source a 2nd hand from the ...
