Thanks for the advice. I finally found a GQ leaf sprung ute front diff (complete with 3rd member CW and P) from a local wreckers. It's going to cost me $250 though so the "bargain" Lock Right for $350 will end up costing the same as a 4wd System's Lokka delivered. At least the 4 pinion Ute centre ...

I got the Lock Right delivered today. It is a 4 pinion/spider gear locker which uses the factory side gears. Richmond USA says it'll fit a GQ ute front diff so I assumed it would fit the wagon. It doesn't. Does anyone know if the GQ utes actually have a 4 pinion open front diff centre? I have been ...

Yeah. I'm waiting on a new pair of CV's that'll be sent to my drive shaft bloke to be strengthened then cryogenically frozen. Hoping they'll hold up for a while.
Cheers.

FJ40 mods

G'day, I've got a '79 SWB FJ40 with a 2F. I'm planning on putting a 4L straight six and auto from an EF Falcon in and running GQ diffs, suspension (lifted) and transfer case. I've spoken to an engineer and he's happy to engineer it all after I have it welded up by a pro. My main reason is that I ...

Re: FJ40 extractors and electronic ignition

Thanks jessie928. My FJ runs on petrol and gas so the main reason for going electronic ignition is the ability to run two different ignition curves - one for petrol and one for gas - to optimise power for each. The points last a lot longer too. Do 60 series headers fit a 40 series engine bay (both ...

FJ40 extractors and electronic ignition

I was looking at getting a set of headers for my FJ40 with a 2F. I found some new Pacemaker's on eBay for a 60 series with a 2F for about $450. Will this fit the 40 series? Does anyone suggest any other particular manufacturers or do the Pacemaker's work well? The sight says a 10% increase in power ...
