What is the best solution to fix my head light problem{ high beam won't go off and have been told switch is stuffed} other than forking out $350 for a new one. Can i mount switches on dash and just use exiting assembly for indicators and wipers?

I have a 308 in my MQ and i had to replace my cable found out it was a Ford v8 cable. If it has a swivell that goes onto the carby with a steel clip and a plastic bush that fits into the fork in the top of the accelerator pedal i would say its the Ford this is the part number XD9C799C. Boxhead.
