Re: SHOW OFF YOUR TURBO PETROL/GAS PATROL
definatly boost retard or lock it at 15deg or less untill you put it on a dyno. 8psi shouldn't give you greaf if your ignition is in good shape. If using gas only get some platnium or iridium cold plugs, helps with detonation.

Re: Whats with LPG not needing as much air. MYTH?
When I changed my TB42 GQ from petrol to straight gas I got the same power but still only used 95 lts of gas to 400km's witch was the same as fuel but now half the price to fill. That was using Gas research system, found it faultless and easy to tune.

Whats with LPG not needing as much air. MYTH?
I constantly hear from people and mechanical shops saying that LPG requires less air than fuel so you dont have to runt he same CFM throttle body as fuel. Stoich for petrol is 14.7 and 15.8 for LPG and even 17.1 for a 50/50 mix of LPG and Butane, dont know the mix rate but definatly got some Butane ...

Re: Diesel gas motor stops free bottle of rum for who help f
Id be checking convertor ice up for sure. After it stops feel the convertor, it should be hot. If its icing up it dosnt vaporise the gas and dumps raw liquid down its guts and floods f##k out of it.

You probly need to do a hardness test on the head as they get soft with overheating and check how staight it is.

Northside cylinder head specialist in Geebung did a great job on my TB42 head. Price was the cheapest around as well.

I ve started a build/resurrection thread of this truck in the members vehicals section. If there is any info on the engine management or auto, would like to know more about the history of this thing. And some power figures this truck has made too, so i ve got somthing to beat.

Re: GQ V8 VH45 TWIN TURBO....NEW OWNER#225!!!
I think the last time I heard of this it was still RWD as it still used the infiniti gearbox... is it 4WD yet? It was always 4wd, Infiniti auto shares a lot of components with the Patrol auto. So with some swapping around the Patrol TX12A transfer bolts up. I'm not sure when all the reliability ...

Re: GQ V8 VH45 TWIN TURBO....NEW OWNER#225!!!
Yeh more fault finding/ debugging. Its a project for me, the base is there ready to go just needs refining. From just a quick look it has no boost retard for timing so i can only suspect timing is been pulled out by the ECU via knock senser. Plus at 10.2 - 1 CR it wouldnt be able to handle much ...

Re: TB42 Turbo Size Guide
The easy way to do it is get the right compressor size (TB42 is gt30ish) with a small turbine housing about AR.69 and a big 50mm external waste gate to control boost.
Re: TB 42 Cam
Mate check that cam duration at 50"it's all wrong on a turbo. Has less duration on the exhaust than inlet, thats crap, plus not any bigger than standard.

Just did a power run the Dyno to see what it had, developed a bloody miss a 4000rpm which hurt it. Bloke was saying it needs to be even richer than 12.8 a/r, thinks it's running lean. I thought that was rich? Closed up the gap to .7mm seems to have fixed the miss not sure as just tested on the road ...

Just woundering if I should repair my factory diff lock which uses vacume to operate, will it stay locked on boost or will it disengage? I think it has a vacume can and one way valve but still unsure if will stay locked.

I've done two sumps now, no problems. As soon as it heats up the oil around hole does smoke a little (about 1 min) but doesn't catch a lite as there is not enough oxegen in the sump to get ignition.
