Try spray on cooking oil. Makes a pretty good anti-spatter for stainless. Regular stuff does fark all.

Has anyone on here had any experience welding up an intercooler core from ADRAD? Welded up one years ago and had plenty of problems with the solder coating used to 'glue' the end plates on the tubes. The bloke who sold it said all you have to do is run a band saw blade through the the joint to rid ...

I have just brought an old anvil made in 1912 that has seen alot of work and would like to pad weld the top to be machined so i have flat surface and square edges to work on. I'm pretty sure i need to use low hydrogen rods for this but not 100%. Whats the best way to do this?

Loving this thread. I cant weld to save my life but im dying to learn how to though.
I have looked at tafe courses but the only one i can find is at ultimo tafe and i live at penrith which is about a hour travel time, add in rotational shift work it can be hard to get there. :x

i've always just done vertical welds top to bottom to avoid the weld dripping down and not burning in well. haven't come across a situation where i've only been able to go bottom to top and can't think of when i'd have to?

i was hoping for a bit more explanation about the welds opposed to just people showing how good they can weld :finger:
of the first 3 methods are all of them acceptable in auto fab? would you say for a strength weld that the straight fillet is the way to go?

Geez, I belong to the Rover forum but was curious about jeeps.
The interior light problem is most probably that an earth wire has dropped off a door switch and is shorting. undo all of teh door switches to check that the wires are still on. if not you will have to trace back further.
