Its for a gq td42, originally it was an ATI kit fitted back in the late 80's i believe.
The turbo's are now obsolete, as they no longer make spares for them, i need a new exhaust housing (mines cracked most of the way around). I'm not sure if its the same as the gu one or not, but the guy said that ...

Need a new turbo

Well after being told my turbo is irrepairable, i priced a mistsubishi turbo and dump pipe to suit the TD42 for $1600.
Dunno what size it is but it is from the kit that MTQ in Laverton (Melb) sell...

Does this sound like normal pricing or am i getting ripped?

Instead of spot welding them, i just put a series of prick punches from the inside out on each end, was told to do this by a guy who custom builds I/C's for drags.

I would have thought that free reving, under no load would have produced a fair amount of black smoke, due to the reduced cylinder temps???

Mine does anyway, i dont think it hurts for a diesel to blow a little bit of smoke, just not too much...

hi i dont know if the laws in vic are the same but i just recently put a repairable writeooff back on the road. if the car is over 10 years old it doesn't need to be inspected only needs a roadworthy. hope the law in qld is the same as it saved me heaps of time and $400 not having to get it inspected.

I had this problem with my car, not enough room for a panel filter, went and brought a K&N pod filter (3 inch outlet).

Then brought plumbers pvc piping (white stuff) with a screw on end cap, cut a 3" hole in the cap so the filter goes inside the pipe, and got fittings for the other end to reduce ...

Some mud racers use tuppaware containers with a hole cut in the bottom of it, put the dizzy through the hole and put it back on the motor, drill holes in the side of the container and put rubber grommets in them and push the leads through them, keep the lid off the container until you go off road ...

For all you diesel guru's

I've just fitted a Pyro to my GQ turbo'ed 4.2 diesel, in the exhaust manifold, before the turbo, NOT in the dump pipe like many others. Took it for a spin and 3500rpm in 4th gear (120+kmh) it reads around the 600c mark... is this ok? I understand everyone says not to go over the 550c mark but (from ...

I think the real early ones had smaller flanges on them though, so try for a later one??
