Re: How long to remove 80 series 1HZ??

A good day should sort it. I recently removed my engine/transfer/gearbox including tailshafts in 11 hours by myself as a reference.

Re: Slack in timing belt?

Stop freaking out, it is fine. Think about how the setup works. Whilst I am not familiar with this particular engine, timing belt is driven by lower of the two pulleys (I assume the fuel pump as per the 1H series of Toyota engines?). When it drives, the belt is pulled tight and, in turn, drives the ...

Re: 80 SERIES H151F PETROL AND DIESEL COMPATABILITY

The H151F box is the same in both the FZJ80 and the HDJ80. They both run the 12' clutch. I'm not sure if the bellhousings are the same but the HZJ80 and HDJ80 bellhousings are the same. The H150F is just as strong, has a lower first and second gear ratio, and can be mated to the 12" clutch using an ...

Re: Thoughts on ex mine vehicles

Rust. If it isn't present now, it will be sooner than a non-mine vehicle. One of our work Hiluxes looks ok in the body but there are holes in the aluminium side steps you could put a tennis ball through. It is only a surface vehicle but the ground water they use for dust suppression is very ...

Not without moifications. The length is different, requiring a rear tailshaft modification. I believe there is also a difference in the input and/or output shaft splines.

Definitely not a straight swap.

Re: ARB endless air for 1HDT 80 series

You want the kit to suit a 1HZ 80 series. It will be the same setup as your 1HD-T. Wouldn't the kit I mentioned above, from the Endless Air site to suit the 80 series factory turbo diesel, work with his 80 series, or is the factory turbo diesel the FTE? Yes Simon that would work, in fact I would ...

Re: ARB endless air for 1HDT 80 series

You want the kit to suit a 1HZ 80 series. It will be the same setup as your 1HD-T. They are different from the 75 series in the length of the snout on the compressor. The FTE runs a multi groove flat type belt. I have heard that the endless brackets are a bit light on and prone to cracking. Your ...

Great to see this sort of service made readily available to "converters" like myself. Make's a project that much more achievable.

Just to update, picked up a 1HD-FTE out of a ute with 53k kms for $8500.

No gearbox, just the motor and all associated electricals.

Need to source the other bits for the conversion and will send my harnesses to Steve for modification.

You may want to use something a bit heavier. When you load up drawers with heavy stuff they can get quite a bit of momentum up and the 3mm may bend. Use 6 or 10mm if it will fit and never think about it again.

Okay, if I were only running gauges, no warning lights/switches:

Water temp
Oil pressure
Fuel level

I would not need the oil pressure gauge if I were running a switch/warning light for the oil and would replace it with a voltmeter.

I have a naturally aspirated vehicle.
