Re: GU Ute Chassis Number Location

Thanks Mate We eventually found it just where you said. For others who might struggle Its just below and a bit to the left of an oblong hole (approx 20mm x 45 mm) in the chassis. It is lightly etched rather than stamped and even on the new chassis it was almost impossible to see. Once we knew ...

GU Ute Chassis Number Location

Hello Everyone A mate of mine just bought a 2006 GU TD42 and is trying to get a blue slip in NSW. Nobody can find the VIN number on the chassis. No doubt it is covered by paint, rust and dirt but where should he start looking? I searched on my 3.0 2009 GU (only 20,000 kms and a clean chassis) and ...

GU faulty hazard lights

Gday guys. Hoping someone can help me with this. 1. Hazard lights do not work 2. Blinkers work fine - so I am assuming the blinker unit is not at fault 3. left and right Blinkers are overridden and do not work when hazard lights switch are switched on - so the switch is doing something . . . 4 ...

Re: High pinion centers

Thanks mate, mine is running 6 liters which probably doesn't make a huge difference in oil level once it runs out to the end of the axles and all. It's been running up and down the freeway since Friday with no nasty pinion noises so all is good. Thanks for all the info on this page.

Re: High pinion centers

Probably should also mention that I had to change the flange as the rear is bigger than the front. (09 GU) Easy as, everything just swaps straight over.

Re: High pinion centers

Yep, swaybar works fine! Just check where you're the bulk head for the air locker should be positioned to clear the sway bar. But I'm pretty sure you could get a right-angle adapter for the air fitting in case you have an issue. Mine worked out fine. I will post a pic or two in a minute  EDIT ...

Superior supa flex radius arms opinion

I have a 2009 GU, planning a 4" lift. I have the choice between saving some coin on a second hand sent of 4" supaflex arms or waiting a couple of weeks to get the new ones with the Toyota style rear bush. It seems the big advantage of the new arms is the rear bush not being chopped out. My question ...

Gday Guys

I will be doing the suspension on my GU over the next month or so. Any idea on how soon these may be tested for street legality?

Re: GU Ute leaf to coil conversion

@ toaddog, Yep I tracked down a coil chassis over the weekend. Front is bent but rear is all good. @ old lux, Any chance you could show me the link for your mate's build? Had a quick search but didn't find it. Definitely going the long arms. Since I will have the old mounts already cut from the old ...

GU Ute cruise control

Gday Guys I have a 2009 GU Ute. Couple of questions. 1. Did any of the utes ever come out with factory cruise? 1. If I were to purchase a cruse control system from a wrecked ute or wagon Does the ute already have a wiring loom that the factory parts can be plugged into or am I better to go ...

Gday Guys I have a 2009 GU and am considering converting it to coil springs. A couple of questions 1. Can the suspension and all the suspension mounting brakets from a wagon be used or are the Chassis profiles different? 2. Has anyone done this before? Cn you tell me anything in particular I need to ...

Re: reduction gears for a rodeo - who makes them ??

A friend of mine fitted a set of reduction gears from independent4x in the United States to a 2002 Jackeroo. They required a combination of parts from three transfer cases to make them fit in the Aussie model but worked a treat especially when combined with front and rear ARB lockers and 33" km2's ...

Re: buying a gq. swb or lwb

I'v owned a swb for the past 7 years. I has been primarily my weekend 4by. a couple of points from my opinion: 1. Don't underestimate how much you can pack behind the back seat, it's not like a jeep there is some space back there, We have done plenty of camping trips with a family of four, (two ...
