looking for someone to do custom fabrication in Perth
Hi, can anyone recommend a good quality workshop to do some custom fabrication in Perth?
I have an FJ40 that I want to restore to three seats up front and need mounts made between the new seats and the floor.

tried all sorts of fans with shrouds to keep the 350 cool in a 40series. Fixed fan was best, hard to find a decent rebuildable viscous hub for the chevs. Eventually got alloy crossflow radiator which is bigger and conducts heat better than original radiators. THis rule of thumb seems to work: you ...

i believe bigger tank is faster, as long as you remember to fill it up before you start pumping tyres. I think of it this way: if you start with a 30L tank at 150psi plus 4 tyres at 10psi and finish with tank and tyres all at 40psi, with compressor running continuously you save pumping at least 30L ...

In WA a big problem I have found with gas is that roadhouses will have run out or have faulty pumps. On a 5000km trip I had this problem 3 times. When there is no other gas for at least 400km you have no choice but to wait - unless you have dual fuel. The best I get on gas is from my chev is 300km ...

ive had some similar problems with my 40series. i made shroud up which helped heaps. Tried a 16" electric fan, that was ok at idle but pretty much useless at high rpm even when shrouded. settled for a chev viscous hub, with a 10 blade fan from an EB i think. The fan only protrudes a few cm down the ...

Can anyone please help me out with a photo or measurements of a landcruiser e-z locker? I bought one direct from the US and two reputable workshops here have not been able to get it working. Apparently the problem is that the hole the crosspin goes through is the wrong shape so it can't unlock. I ...

Gwagensteve, whereas you identify a 265/75 as equivalent to a 33, a BFG Muddy in a 265 is 810mm in diameter that is under a 32. To get a true 33 on a BFG muddy, you actually need to go a 285/75 which then takes you over to an 8" rim. Rainsey I think he meant the 255/85/16 was a 33" ;) its goes on a ...

chev heads
well i found out yesterday that my 350 has a burnt valve. its got low compression on one cylinder and has way too much hydrocarbons coming out the exhaust. I figure this means that the heads need to be replaced/reconditioned. The motor is early to mid 80's, stock standard but with lpg. What i would ...

Sanden 507 bearings
My air compressor seized on the weekend although i keep it oiled on the intake side. When i pulled it apart found that there was no oil in the clutch/bearing side and both bearings appear to be completely chewed out. Anyone know where to get replacement bearings for these? or would it be cheaper to ...

just rang round today and found some for $75 each. not really the cheapest. So from what i can gather bad_religion_au, you have redrilled the spring perches, and relocated the fixed mount toward the front of the vehicle so that the axle only moved back 1inch. Is this right? what sort of difference ...

Hi Bumpy I had mine measured up at opposite lock for the 60s springs and they were gonna move the axle backwards by too much (at least 50mm). I can only afford about 30mm with the gas tank and pivoting of the axle. The 75s springs you mention sound good tho, are you getting some more details for ...

here are some measurements i took: my existing 40 rear springs, fixed end to centre bolt 500mm a 60 front that was lying round, fixed end to centre bolt 550mm. This means the rear axle would move back 50mm, which is too much for me as its going to interfere with the gas tank hope this is of use to ...

you also need to get the measurements for pin to eye of the long side of the springs as this will determine how far forward and backwards your axles will move. You may find that your wheelbase is going to increase considerably which may be great for my 40 but is that what you want for your 60? these ...
