This appears to be a common problem.
I tied the tops in with hose clamps and have had no issues yet!

When I first got the car it was running a 500 holley 2 brl. this made great power when opened right up  But was very lacking when trying to crawl up rocky track  it made bugger all power down low. It also flooded up really badly on any sort of a hill and used s**t loads of fuel when driven...

I have what I was told is a 275 Holley built for the Holden 253. I have this fitted with an adapter plate on a standard 4.4 2b manifold.

Hello again Bulldog, Are you running a 2 barrell manifold with a 4 barrell adapter to fit the Quady? If so do you have a flat spot when you put your foot down when running on petrol? Mine was very bad when I first put the Quady on and I worked out that the Quady was set up for a much bigger/hotter e...

Glad you got it sorted Bulldog

I made a flat alloy plate for mine, seals nicely.

Now all I need is to get the Quady modified to suit the 4.4 and it should go good.

Hi Bulldog,

What kind of manifold are you using?
I had similar issues (start and stall again, backfiring through the carby) a big part of my problem was the adapter I used to fit the Quady actually leaked where it mounted to the 2barrell manifold I have.

Good luck with it!

I'm at Lilydale so Hall's is probably where I would have tried, that is where I used to go years back :)

I didn't think that the pinch a part type places would have had 40's in the yard. Maybe I'll go have a look there as well, it's always fun to poke around and see what they've got.

Thanks guys,

Once upon a time I had an FJ55 with a 2f as I recall it had a full bellhousing. When saw this one I was a bit worried that he'd got some sort of dodgy bros. conversion. I will check out the wreckers tomorrow.

BTW does anyone know a good wrecker in the outer east for these things?

FJ40 with Ford motor

Hi Guys, My son just picked up a 1975 FJ40 for his first 4WD. He has great plans for it as all 18yo do  My question is, the car has a 4.1ltr ford motor but it seems to sit very close to the firewall. Also the flywheel and clutch assembly are in the open :? It looks to me as though the bottom ha...

I think some very serious thought needs to be given to the future of this sport. As KAT said the easiest way to get involved is to volunteer as a marshall. This is true. But it is getting harder to get enough marshalls to run an event let alone enough so that everyone gets some time off to spectate ...

Pretty easy to rewire with a bit of thought, once you only have switching current through the switch it should be all good

Hi Mick, You could try Ringwood Speedometers.
I have found them very useful for some oddball stuff over the years.
They seem to carry a good range and have good product knowledge.

Sounds like the switch.
I don't know about the disco's but in my early Rangies the power all ran through the switch and it used to burn out the contacts.
That problem was solved by rewiring through a relay.
Hope this helps, Glen.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the help :)

I borrowed a 4brl Holley and replaced the Quady with that. Guess what, same problem

I can only figure now that it may be related to the manifold?

This weekend I'll be taking that off and checking the seals.

Any thoughts let me know

Hi all, I have a follow up on my manifold sealing problem. Sounds like a class act already. The list of extras is endless and expensive. It all depends upon what you want from it. I would add a winch/bar, a difflock or 2, good tyres, endless air and an auto. Try to keep it as low as possible. I would also keep the sill tanks to have a bit of touring range. ...
