Re: 80 series booster to hilux

I'll post a pick later of mine.... Basiclly I drilled out the captive nut closest to the guard just big enough to fit the cable through, drilled 1 hole in the firewall for the bolt to pass through and used a washer on the other side where the cable used to run. then I just removed the accelarator ...

How much is your greenslip???

Hi all, I just got the shock of my life by getting quoted $664.61 for a greenslip on my YN65 hilux :( I'm 29 years old with no at fault accidents, the car will be garaged, but i think it's total Bulls*#t for that much for a bloody greenslip!!! So just out of curiosity I was wondering what you guys ...

Re: hilux brake upgrade

If you don't change the booster but use a larger m/cyl, you will end up with a rock hard pedal. By the way, THAT IS A 80 SERIES M/CYL!!!!! :finger: And that little sales pitch they give works the other way too.... If you change the Master Cylinder without increasing the size of your calipper pistons ...

Re: hilux brake upgrade

Yeah mate, but as you can see I used the 80 series master cyl (25.4mm bore) instead of the Hilux V6 one (23.81mm). Only reason I did this is cause I didn't find as much info on using the late hilux m/cyl. Trust me mate, I couldn't ask for better brakes in my hilux!! Everyone said that the brakes ...

Help... what speedo ratio box do I use???

Ok, long story short... My YN65 needs to be engineered for (amongst other things) the 33x12.5x15 tyres, to do so I must have the speedo must read correctly. At the moment when the gps says the old girl has struggled up yo 100km/h the speedo reads 85km/h. I asked around different places and people ...

I've just been playing around with a yn65... yes all the A/C harness just plugs in, but just tuck it up out of the way cause you may still need it for the interior fan. I have the piece which would eliminate the evaporator between the fan and heater box if you require it... Unlike you I am ...

Re: Alternator not Charging

Yes, the Commodore Alts are internally regulated. there's a black box on the back of the alt where you plug the signal lamp and excite wire into.. thets the regulator. It has 2 bushes on it which wear down over time and you end up with a poor contact. the part number is "RE60" and almost every spare ...

Re: what power steering box to use in yn65

You'll still have to use a box out of a YN65/67 or LN65 4x4, but you will need to have a custom high pressure line made up from the pump to the box.

Re: Getting 33's engineered in QLD.

I have my YN65 hilux booked in for an engineers certificate (VSCCS) of mid july just outside of newcastle. I rang and spoke to them about it having 2" body lift, 2" spring lift, and 33x12.5 tyres... They said no problem!!! But the vehicle must have a weighbridge ticket and pass a 4 wheel brake test ...

Re: RN106 Discs & callipers onto YN65???? 302mm

Yesterday I got my hands on an early 80 series booster. I too have seen that some people have flipped the booster upsie down but on mine it hits the top steering uni joint ( top uni measures 66mm across, but the one near the steering box is only 52mm across ). Looks like I'm gonna have to take a die ...

Dudelux, Did you have to mess around with the length of the rod between the brake pedal and the booster??? Did mou have to have new brake lines made up to suit the 80 series master cylinder???

Cheers again, Jon :)

I have been tightening the 4 bolts on top and bottom of the swivel hubs, I dont think they were shimed correctly after I changed the diff. She steers like a wheelbarrow with a flat tyre, following the joins in the pavement.
