Absolutely agree with Dow5or. I have a 98 petrol and I've replaced the sensor twice! It's not cheap, either - over $400.00 if I remember correctly. When I blew the first one, I decided that I'd do without a speedo for a while but I soon found out that it was also used as input to the engine computer ...

I have a 97 HDJ80 and it has driver and passenger front air bags, but no side ones.

I thought all 40th anniv. ones had them? mine isn't a 40th anniv. one though.
Nope. My 40th Anniversary has no airbags - just ABS.

Hi Nick

I'm not sure it the switches are the same as in an 80 series but I've done this conversion myself. Works great.

I'd be going to Jaycar or Dickie's and getting an LM7812 regulator chip. Three connections and really compact.

I was always under the impression that petrol 80's had a chain and not a belt, therefore it did not need routine replacement.

Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

Toddles

I tried to find a place for a Twine shower pump under the bonnet of my 80 petrol and gave up. There just isn't anywhere to fit it, so I imagine you'll have the same problem with the compressor.

I ended up mounting the pump under the bullbar.

Good luck!

From what I've heard, Toyota recommend NOT to convert the V8 to LPG. They claim the warranty will be voided.

Hi Rover

Good to hear that they screwed more horsies out of it.

Do you know exactly what was done? Was it the ignition timing advance trick? I did that to mine and it made a huge difference. No dyno figures though :-(

My 80 is petrol/auto and I get about 23l/100k around town. A bit better on the highway but it goes up to about 26l/100k when towing 1.4 tons. I'm running 265/75x16 BFG A/T's.

Standards and pre 8/92 use 2 motors, later has a valve that rusts up in the passenger side rear corner of the engine bay...
Thanks Andrew, that's what I was after.

80 series window washers

Hi Guys

I have a 40th anniversary LC and when I turn on the rear window washer, the front one also runs. Not so the other way!

Is there a valve somewhere that controls which washer to supply from the common reservoir?

My oil pressure sits on the high side. A bit above half way at idle and just into the top third of the gauge at 3000. Temp never moves from halfway whether towing or not and all weather conditions.
