You've gotta be moving very slightly to engage low range!

or if the vehicle is stationary, get the transfer input shaft spinning slowly, as the transfer case is non-synchromesh.

How about making a dog trailer ie keep both axles where they are, connect the steering arm to a draw bar, and put a tray/box on the chassis? The down sides to a dog trailer is they are twice as hard to reverse cos they are effectively a trailer behind a trailer. And the load space is above the ...

the wind screen doesn't go up high enough AFAIK the Disco and Rangie windcreen are the same ( interchangable ) its just that the Disco roof line is higher at the front, as well as the back. Is the seating higher in a Disco? or would a tall person be banging their head on the roof of a Rangie? The ...

Paul, 7 seat Disco's had a rear step which is on a pivoting arm that mounts to the chassis. It is raised after use by a gas strut , and you simply stand on it to lower. I have a slightly bent one, inc mounts/strut, from a 97 Disco under my house if your interested ( for a slab of VIC :-) . An option ...

Is it from a duel or single cab 130? If duel you will need to extend the front of the tub to get the wheel arch rearward of the middle of the body. Should look great if done properly. Personally I wouldn't use the axle housing, but coils would be great using a solid axle that takes your LR hubs ...

Has anyone replaced the bodgy unit with a pump up shocky or similar? My County has tall soft springs which are great when empty but the arse end sags when loaded with camping gear etc.

The shell comes out pretty easy and you can reline it yourself, or get an auto upholsterer to do it approx $200. Apparently the hard part is getting cloth that is wide enough to cover the shell, as it also comes down the wall 10 inches or so. I just removed the fittings and trim so the guy could pop ...

As mentioned, the leaf spring/drum braked Sals came in 4.7 ratio from an SIII or 3.54 from a Stage 1. If you put a 4.7 in your car you wont have to touch the front, but if you put in the 3.54 ratio, you will need to get an early Rangie front diff ( so your diffs match). I bought a SIII 4 cyl petrol ...

You can buy whats called a quarter chassis which is the rear x member (that the tow bar and body bolt too) plus about 12 inches or so of chassis rail. This can be replaced with the body in place by cutting access holes ( do it neatly and no one will notice  ) in the floor above the join ...

Do you get a refund for dud advise from nrma etc ? two known problems with the early td5's are 1. diesel seeping into the injector wiring loom - $1000ish for new loom. An LR specialist can tell if this is happening. 2. Oil pump bolt comes loose (if no loctite) - $15000ish for new engine. Anyone can ...

Often caused by a sloppy CV knocking the sensor too far away from the ABS ring. The voltage from the sensor should be .2 volt AC @ 30rpm of the wheel. I replaced both CV's to fix my ABS, but one of the replacement CV's from Paddocks England was slightly out of round and caused the same problem :cry ...

Re the central locking - check that the door lock button has a positive snap up/down action. If there is the same resistance to movement up/down, the spring in the lock mech is broke. The Salisbury diff housing has to be spread to remove the carrier. The spreader tool uses the two sockets either side of the diff, but big mongrel screwdrivers will also to the trick

Installation is the reverse of removal - yeah right.
