I ran 4.7's from a series in my old hybrid, with 35/12.50x16's (BFG MTs) and never broke one in three eyars of hard off roading. The old girl had three engines in that time ending up with a Supercharged 3.5. With 35's you will be just a snadge under geared so with 33's you will need an O/D to cruise ...

I have fitted more Warn winches than I care to remember, and have also stripped, rebuilt and serviced heaps of them too.

I have also had the misfortune to fit 3 wanky Chinese efforts now - the quality has to be seen to be believed. There is also a good chance it will not fit into an ARB bar (and ...

The XP and the 8274 are both good and fast but they require proper maintenance if you really use them hard in the wet. With the 8274 that means new seals every time. The 4.6hp 8274 is a bag of sh*te, made by illiterate monkeys in an old zoo somewhere. Swap in the 5.6hp Premium/DV/Master Winch motor ...

The 8274 idea was bought off Bellview years ago. If you take a peek at the Bellview 5000/Warn 8000 you will see it has a bowden operated clutch that full disingages the spur gear. It also has a bowden cable operated brake that will hold a LWB S1 on a 45degree slope (according to the manual ...

IIRC a RaRo will lose 47% through it's drive train if an fourspeed auto is fitted. Worse for a Torqueflight better for an LT77 but not a lot!

The ComeUp/Masterwinch/DV winches are sold in Australia as the Premier Winch. Only just found that out. Designed and built in Taiwan by the peopl that make winches for Warn. Bloody good winch, even has the brake in the gear box not the drum.

Mmm interesting. Follows on from what I would have thought.

I once asked one of the MRFC competitors why he kept using an 8274 - he said that even though it broke more, you could always beg spares from other competitors!

I would have thought it would be better to have a winch that didn't break ...

Winch Question

I'm writing an article on winches/winching and I need some feed back on the T-max range of winches. These are fairly new in the UK and Europe but according to the T-max website they are the 'winch of the outback'.

Is this just hype?

What do the Australians think of the T-max range ...
