Re: front diff locker worth it?

People need to stop comparing Air Lockers to Auto Lockers. Air locker + compressor - $1500 Auto locker (Spartan) - $290 That alone makes them no comparison. For the record, I just got this below Spartan locker delivered to my door from Wayneharwig (on Pirate4x4) who works at Diffsonly.com. It is an ...

Re: front diff locker worth it?

A air or electric locker is always much better than an auto locker.

Considering you have an '80 can't find any factory lockers? The electric units.

Re: LN106 Rear Brake Disc Conversion (Same as LCII Brakes?)

Well you could try using pajero discs and calipers...but you wont be too impressed with them. You would be better off using lc2 rears discs and calipers. Oh and while you are doig that, with your favourite mechanic, you may as well do those diff ratios which you have been on about for months on end ...

You should have a look at BG's turbo on the rockylux 3l engine. Not a CT20 turbo, safari or some make like that.

Will give you an insight anyway.

Re: Front Axle Drive Strengthening

Are you constantly sitting in axle-deep muddy water? If not it sounds like you have assembly problems. Or is the inner axle seal leaking to such an extent that the oil is washing the grease out of the bearings? It that's the case, try a marlin inner seal and a new brass spindle bush. Otherwise ...

Re: Front Axle Drive Strengthening

Thanks for the Marlin Crawler info.

Had an emergency repair a few months back using exact method of hammer etc etc, but little choice at the time.

I'll put in an order to Marlins and when arrives do it properly.

Thanks for all the posts everyone.

Yes, Marlin Crawler may be the solution. Something is giving way.

When I look at this site a little confusing what actually to order:

Re: Front Axle Drive Strengthening

I am running 33" MT on 15" alloy wheels, no spacers.

or

35" XT on 16" steel rims, no spacers.

Either the axle seals will leak 1st, or the wheel bearing gives way 1st.

Re: Front Axle Drive Strengthening

The bearing and seals give way. The bearings I use are koyo.

Looking at places like Marlin Crawler I was wondering if I should use their overhauls kits, bearings and seals which they indicate are more robust. Not too interested in the longfields.

For some reason my lj70, bundera, seems to be chewing up wheel bearing every few months. I have little idea why this is occuring and have put it down to the amount of time spent offroad at weekends. If auto put in an aftermarket transmission cooler. This stops the heat build up.
