I've pulled it apart again. It appears the backing plates are bowed, bent outward around the centre, allowing play for the bearing. They must have bent them when i last got the bearings done being why the problem is a new one. Might be time for some new backing plates, and new bearings seeing they ...

Thanks for the reply. The bearing is in good condition, have pulled it out a couple of time replacing seals and seeing what was happening. I think a new housing might be the go.

I might give the auto paint store a crack. I have a swb sierra, its white and the colour code for that is 26U. Its definately more of a creamy, off white colour. Might be the beige one. Thanks for your help

Yeah i was thinking possibly the fuel pump or possibly the Ignition module as these can bugger up with heat as well. But wasnt sure if the fuel pump suffered from heating up or how it kinda resets itself. It hasnt felt warm to touch.

Yep i once put the falcon alternator onto my old 1.3 sierra engine, but wasnt sure if the mounts on the sierra 1.3 were the same as on the vitara 1.6. But if they are i will just do the same thing.

you'll probably only get about 3 inches all up, as the shackles only lift one end of the spriing. Have a search though, its quite a well talked of subject.

Its a pain they made them so hard to get out. Ive tried a rattle gun and i shattered 2 tips, so i think i'll try the nail punch method next and if i dont succeed there i guess i will fire up the welder.

All is now solved, thanks for everyones help. Top link that Damo was very handy! Sourced 2 kits, one for each side from warringah brakes. $20 a side which contained all the ruber goodies which are involved. Also bought some special grease for the job, so $50 all up which didnt seem to bad. Was also ...
