Re: Premier brand brake pads
being a mechanic i do alot of brake pads and we only bendix. We have too many warranty claims on squealing and complaints about brake dust on other cheaper brands. I find the bendix to the best never had a problem.

The new motors will bolt on. You will most likely need to buy a pinion gear though. As the newer motors use a splined pinion gear and the older ones used a Key-way.
mine is an older model and the new 6hp fitted no issues once the pinion gear turned up.
From memory the pinion gear is only about $30 ...

Re: Holden rodeo 3.5l petrol, good or no good?
I can vouch for how bad they are on fuel. I get around 300kms on petrol but 400kms to a 70ltr gas tank. I love it its cheap to run great work ute. I know they do big ends but my brothers a mechanic. If you put it on gas or it has gas, there a great work ute as you can get them pretty cheap now.

Pump was out a touch.... advanced it to .78 got temps up to 400, making 100kw didnt matter how much fuel we put it same thing couldnt get any more heat into. So we backed the fuel off making 100kw which is enough for the trip and when i get back might advance it to .82 or something.

The higher the pressure is, the further around the pump cam must go to deliver said pressure, decreasing actual injection time.
Ive never heard of a compensator failing as there is just really nothing thats working hard enough to fail.
Yeah i was thinking that, Ill ring the bloke up tomorrow and ...

If the injectors were opening at 90psi you wouldnt have a running engine :)
105-110Bar is optimum pressure opening range. About 1650psi.
130 is to much and will screw with pump timing alot, so unless you account for it, it will give a performance decrease.
It will be the stainless mesh filter on ...

Re: Why did nissan stop making the 4.2td.
Probably much the same as why they had to get rid of the old holden 5 litre v8.
they researched making a 3 valve head for it and all other stuff to get it thru emission controls but it just wasn't a viable option.
Now look what we've got, an extremely popular, powerful and reliable v8.

steve, a quick question for you. What is the cause of the big jump in price between the LS1 and a L98. I know it costs extra for the L98 itself and mod to fly by wire throttle, but i can not see where the 4-5K price jump is.

stick with a standard, if the water passes too quickly through the radiator it will not cool quick enough. A high flow one will help it get to temperature quicker though.

pertronix kits awsome, either the standard or lobe sensing.
The standard kit needs you to machine the shaft down so u can fit the spacer collor, not hard at all. I just hooked it up the dizzy up to a drill in the vice and spun it slowly while another person using the belt sander.
