Re: GQ TB42 alternator advice??

I took my old hitachi standard alternator to an auto elec and he replaced it for a bosch 75 amp for around $150. He had to take the dual belt pulley of my old alternator though and i rewired the plug to suit.

Keeps my 100amp batteries charged for the last 5 years

Re: 37s wheel width an offset?

As they are a pretty stiff tyre I'd go as wide as possible

Mechanical Bead locks usually add a little to the width also

I have pro comp 16 x 10's with 2.5" back space, they don't stick out to far and work well

Re: Turboing a TB42 GQ on gas

The petronix will not provide enough spark for a turbo motor. It will get blown out by the boost presure.

Your ignition will be a high priority as turbo and non turbo need different ignition curves.

ie. Non turbo - as your revs increase you need more ignition advance (contrifugal advance using ...

Re: GQ ign voltage drop when starting

The battery may have a cold cranking problem with a surface charge

Go to a battery specialist and get them to check the cold cranking.
Just did this with my mum's fiesta (high comp motor that is dependant on good battery condition). Standard CCA was 390 but tested at 115.

Has the battery even been ...

Just another thing to check.

Mine had a similar problem and found it the pissy earth wire on each side which had caused the plug connector to melt.

Changed the connector and new larger earth on each side.

A mate of mine installed the air locker himself and had the same problem.

We thought it was a breather problem but it ended up being a seal in the locker not being installed correctly. Took it to ARB and they fixed it.

3L boost compensator

Hi all

Just fitted a DTS turbo kit to my mates 93 3L diesel

We have fitted a 2.5 exhaust and had it tuned.

Is it worth while fitting a boost compensator to the existing pump @ about $1300 ?

Is it possible to fit a 2.4 turbo surf pump which has the compensator ?

or do we just leave it the way it ...

Pull the cap and button off

Changed to penrite diesel (20/60) and ryco filters, so good so far.

Check your unis (flat spots) and slip (play) and angles of the of the unis.

Just did one using a standard daiken clutch for $330. Brand new clutch, pressure plate and thrust bearing. $58 to get the flywheel machined to my door.

If doing it yourself i highly recommend just taking the engine out.

It had 270k on it
