Put some triangulation into them using a gusset back to the housing, should do the trick.brad 93hilux wrote:Yeh the mounts on the diff for upper arms

Re: 80 series links in a surf/ longer Controll arms
I did though notice what may be a issue, the upper arm mount (factory mounts from 4 runner) do flex and distort under full travel..
Now i was worried these may bend or break off, any ideas on the best way to brace these to strengthen them up?
I know bracing them will stiffen it up and make it ...

Yeah already been given green light from engineer as long as the size of them is in proportion to the rest of the vehicle, weight etc
flexytj - so you've used rubber bushes also? what about a difference between them, in regards to more noise through metal on metal?

Hyme joints on the road...
Hey
Looking into running hyme joints on a 4 link rear. Curious about how they perform on the road in a daily driver?
Heard mixed reviews on them.
Do they give out much vibration through the arms chassis etc?
How do they wear too?
Cheers Justin

Re: 80 series links in a surf/ longer Controll arms
I got the standard 80 upper and lower arms. Will use the surf panhard.
Going to try the std lowers and buy another set of adjustable uppers.
I will have to get heavy duty lowers eventually cos i will bend them!
Keep us up to date with progress

Re: 80 series links in a surf/ longer Controll arms
Ive got all the bits sitting here to do this but yet to pull my finger out.
From first glance i think the mounts on the diff may need to be drilled out to fit a bigger bolt.
Other than that not sure as yet, i will be running coilovers when i do it so i wont be fooling around with coil hats etc ...

Hey
Ive done a search and found abit of info on 1UZ's into lux's but curious as to what radiators people are using?
It has to stay in the front, no tray mount. Limited room also, only about 650mm max. I know AU falcon ones are popular but they are about 700+ wide.

Front diff bracing
So after bending my hilux front housing I've decided my new one is due for a little bracing.
I've got a knuckle gusset kit and its good to strengthen it vertically but what about hits from the front to stop it bending backwards?
I'm still running leaves so it'll be a little difficult to run a hoop ...

Re: Hilux and 4runner brake info
Alright thanks for all the info.
My lux has the 4 pot calipers, not sure if they are 45mm ones. I also currently have vented rotors.
I know I've got the std 7/8" master cyl.
Looks like ill be running 31s
Thanks for the help.
Justin

Re: 4runner coiled rear flex?
That's not to bad, should keep me happy for a while.
Think I will use longer lowers though. I won't have to worry about the coils limiting travel cos ill be using coilovers it'll just be limited by joints and/or arms binding.

Thanks mate. Sounds like I might try that straight off the batStruth wrote:I put 80 series lower arms in mine, about 200mm longer and this increased the flex dramatically.
But the standard 4 Runner 5 link flexs very well straight out of the box anyway.

Alternate power steer pump for GQ
Hey.
Posting this for a mate. Couldn't really find info I needed.
Mates got a GQ dsl wagon, power steering pump has started to leak. Now what I need to know, is the GU power pump a stronger unit?
If so will it bolt in no modifications at all?
Only asking before the cash is laid out to get it ...
