60 series Bullbar.

G'day all,

Just wondering if it is illegal to remove the front bullbar of a 60 series?
Although this may sound weird, I was told It was illegal as the chassis rails protrude out from the length of the bonnet.

Any idea's?

Its called "protruding chassis rail" and yes its illegal!

ive seen a few driving around with the chassis rails sticking out but i've also seen one with the rails cut off flush with the body. looked pretty shmick. I don't know if it was illegal or not but these guys didn't seem to care.
At first I thought it was a sea anemone, upon closer inspection I realised it was a funky ball of tits from outer space.

any protruding edges etc are illegal.

if its cut off flush and theres no sharp edges, everything is radius'd and the tyre is adequately covered then its perfectly legal.

The tyre does not have to adeqautely covered at all. When the standard bumper is on the 60 series it does cover some tyre. However, atube bar, engineered and passed, that is on a 60 I have seen is one small bar that passes around the front only to protect the bottom of the front grill. The tyres aren't covered at all and no roadworthy issues were raised.

there is a requirement in the adr that the wheel be covered to something like 45degrees infront of it

its likely that the fender etc already does this. I was stating in general what the requirements are, not what they are specifically for a 60 series.
