Don't you think it will be a little top heavy???
I have about 4" in suspension and 2" in BL. If I could I would loose the BL. But then I would have to drop the running gear and bumpers.
Cut the guards

Chris.

yeah i do think its getting way to high it was only meant to be 3inches spring but cause of the under chasis shackle mounts and extended shackle it completely stuffed the pinion angle so the dropped cross member has to go down another 2inches to correct it and i will have to run lift blocks in the back so thats what im going to end up with it has all come frome doing this SAS and i defanitley wont do it again

If I was you I would go back to a standard length shackle (on the front) and if the pinion angle is still a problem use wedges.

The biggest mistake you made was using late model rear springs in the front. They are too long. Also putting the hanger under the frame has made your pinion point the wrong way.
Who was giving you info on doing this swap?

I was under the impression from posts I had read on Pirate that you needed about 4 inches of spring lift to clear the steering and stuff?
Paul.
If you move the box forward and tilt it and then run a 75series pitman you can get away with running flat springs. The US guys dont have access to 75series arms so they are using the stock pitman with an adapter which wont allow flat springs.

The pinion issue can easily be fixed with new perches and cutting the knuckles
Re: k
dreama wrote:you need to go 4inches up if you use ifs rears in the front if you use standard fronts it should be sweet
Why did you use IFS rears? This is your biggest problem.
I run a spring in the front of mine that maxes out a 14" shock both ways and these springs are the same length as stock non IFS rears.

And it can be fixed even easier if he uses the right springs and mounts.

True.
You could make the set up that he has there work though.
Why are people in hilux's scared to cut and rotate knuckles? They are the same set up as a cruiser. It would be a heap easier to rotate the knuckles than cut off the drop hangers and fab up new ones. Not to mention the fact he will end up with a rig so tall it will fall over going up a gutter.
As Ruff asked before, who was giving you advice on this build?
