Sent you an email.

I do make my own brake shaft retainer, which doesn’t require me to drill and tap it. It seems to be effective and this modification costs a mere $60.

Could I fit the retainer myself? Or do you need to fit it?

A local engineering shop had no trouble drilling and tapping my shaft without removing it from the winch. Had to remove the winch from the truck though and it would pay to drain the oil first.

Hi,

Intresting thread.

Could not help but notice you mention that a Gigglepin shaft had Failed?

If this is the case could you please pass on details as i am unaware of it and might need to supply a replacement for the customer? :)

We are very proud of the fact that we have sold in excess of over 500 shafts worldwide with only two failures to date (Poorly hardened batch of shafts and two sneaked through the net  ) Both shafts were replaced at our cost including any other parts damaged as a result of the failure.

We have seen a few end cap retaining bolts shear and as a result Wayne is offering an up grade service for existing shafts for any Gigglepin users in Aus.
This bolt has also been upgraded on all new shafts.

Because the events we do are getting tougher, and tougher, we have to keep moving forward and upgrading as we go. As result of this we have a
"All new lower housing" incorperating a freespool built into the lower housing that keeps the gearbox the same size as a standard 8274.
These will be available in June.
Gutted we can not get it ready in time for the OBC, but good product and innovation takes time to get right and believe me it will be well worth the wait

Jim

Ps: Are these chrome moly shafts direct replacement ?or do they cure other problems in the winch as a Gigglepin shaft does ?
