Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Oh yeah easy fix, NOT!!!!!!!!

Without that exact width in wheel track tyres will remove guards and tray, the front tyres will lock up on the front springs and then break inner axles.
It always amazes me that event rules allow hugely off set rims and rims that have been CUT and re welded. Infact the rims can be cut and welded by somebody that has never welded before, yes these rims may have the worst welds ever on them but they are still allowed under the rules.

Off sets different to factory but the SAME extra stress on things as wheel spacers do, they also change the same radius of the steering circle but they are allowed

A tyre size restriction and not allowing wheel spacers are two completely different things...

I know its the organisers right to make the rules that they see fit, but I agree with Guts on this...you can have offset rims or cut and welded rims (quality of welds is a guess) but you cant have spacers. Spacers do the same thing as offset/cut and welded rims, they produce the same amount of stress as the other options...so asking for a "why?" isnt that big of an ask really.

Maybe the organisers think that doing up another set of wheel nuts is too hard for some people.

I beleive because it is easy to see that you have all your wheel nuts fitted with cut or modified rims. With spacers there is no way of knowing how many wheel nuts are holding the spacer on without removing the wheel. I have seen many wheel spacers and wheels with wheel nuts missing and this is not just on trail runs or entry level comps. And the driver was well aware these were missing.

I watched a 42" TSL fall off the back of a very highly modified rig that i would never have expected to see have a failure on a night run only recently. The spacer was the issue on this occasion.

There were a lot of people in previous years that complained the previous tyre size limit was too large and that was the reason they had not entered the event. So we brought the tyre size limit back down to attract these same people. It made little to no difference. Most of the people that had been complaining didn't enter anyway so now there is no size limit.

What about when a whole complete knuckle breaks off, happens on both GQ`sand 80 series front ends.
OR if a rear wheel bearing failed on a semi float rear diff, eg hilux rear diff. The whole wheel can fall off.
No different to a wheel falling off because of a spacer

It all comes down to MAINTENANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and checking over your rig.
Like come on when was the last time you seen somebody checking their wheel nuts before each stage? 99% of people only look at them when they are removing/putting on their wheel from fixing their rig.

Sorry Dave but I think you need to start your own event so you can write rules that suit you. Then you can try and post an explanation as to why the rules are the way they are so as to keep everyone happy.

Im sorry the reason i gave doesn't suit you but i really doubt i could give you one that would.

Still doesn`t answer why they are not allowed.
There is no logical reason to ban them.

If they have come off its because people haven`t put them on properly in the first place
But what ever, it`ll save me money not competing anyway and as you know I only intend on doing the ODD comp here and there ;)

Just spoke to a couple of other club members and the Wheel spacer rule may just be an overlooked carry over from previous years. My above answer wasnt a view of the club it was just what i beleived may have been the reasoning for this rule.

I should have a better explanation on why its there or even if it should be there tomorrow. Its also possible one of the Challenge commitee members may respond to this.
