Bolt for a J-Top

Post by lmacka »

I'm chasing a bolt which has fallen out of my '92 J-Top. Where's the best place to go and get one? Mitsubishi doesn't seem to want to help me, so should I try something like NuBolt? Obviously I need a high tensile one, anything else I need to know?

Also, does anyone happen to know the dimentions of the bolt pictured below? The diagram's from the manual which doesn't specify part types/numbers.

Sorry if this is a stupid question... I'm no bolt expert... :)

I replaced all of mine with grade 10.9 and nylock nuts. If you can find the fine thread, be sure to use them. I have a bag of extras, but shipping from the States might be a bit rich. Let me know if you need it that badly.

Mate do you happen to know the dimentions of those bolts? I'm at work and am trying to chase up a set today so I can fix it tonight, put it in for a wheel alignment tomorrow and have it ready for a bashin' on the weekend!

Cheers!

12mm x 65mm if my memory serves me correctly.
By the way did you have a wheel alightment done recently? These bolts have a habit of coming lose after being played with, so they should be replaced when doing a wheel alightment.

The OE bolts on my '89 were M12 x 50mm 10T. I replaced them with M12 1.25 x 60mm in order to accomodate extra shims and the longer nylock nuts.

glenn_c, you list rear swaybar disconnects in your sig. Were they custom or where did you get them?

Have been wanting to do something for a while and don't want to just take it off and lose on-road handling.

Would like to know your thoughts.

Cheers.
