sr20det conversion

not a whole heap has been achieved yet.

c4 auto that need a rebuild although still works = $50
another option being considered is the c4 auto to range rover lt95 transfer option.
this was a conversion done a while ago to range rover two door I think, anyways it means a cheap way (500 - 600) to get a transfer that is already adapted to the c4 rather than buy a kit to adapt a hilux xfer to the c4, which new is about $1200. plus the c4 needs to be rebuilt with a new shaft that has the correct splin for a hilus xfer.
this also has a change on the diff selection! which is not a big deal in the money stakes as I have a set of each (rainy day)
hilux rear is now out, due to the offset rear output on the range rover.
new diffs are
obviously range rover = no thanks dont have them/want them
mq = nice and cheap + strong + have a set
bundy rear = same as hilux good ratios + small pumpkin + got one when my mate pulls a bundy apart.
hilux / bundy is winning at the moment due to the width which is 55.5 inches
wt zook is 52 inches
running the right rims (no offset) maybe rodeo if they fit, It will look prety stock.
would like some 16 inch rims maybe 17, makes tires look heaps smaller and keep car looking in much better proportions ie lift and tyres look alot less with bigger rims

a little progress has been made with the motor side of things.

all up they equal 700mm from mounting surface to mounting surface
an intersting thing is that I measured under my LWB and from the bell housing mounting face to the input flange on the suzuki transfer is!
you guessed it, 700mm.
I need to work out how long a hilux transfer is from mounting face to output and compare the two but I think if the bell housings stay in the same spot the whole thing may be the same length as the suzuki combo!

I also measured a hilux transfer case today
and from the mounting face to the rear output flange is 325mm
and from the mounting face to the front output flange is 50mm
I havent measured the suzuki yet o see the difference, but its looking good so far!
and people said it would fit?

using the bell housing + c4 auto + adaptor + hilux transfer it comes to 1025mm
so dear watson gearbox issues seem to not be a problem and considering the body of a c4 is about the same size as a zook 5 sp then the tunnel may not need modifying, but I cannot confirm or deny this.
the motor has had the timing chain cover and oil pump removed, I got a second hand item off ebay for $20
the newer one is yet to be installed.
and I am waiting on word from my friend in the US of A about the c4 shaft and coupler
thats about all, but its nearly all here and then hopefully it will make its way into the lwb.
don't stress all my non power + sierra loving friends.
if this combo cant be in a lwb sierra for whatever reason, physically or rules. it will be in a 4wd. vit lwb or maybe a buggy, who knows.

some one found my car so i better reply
The ca18 fits good, tight but fits. It has changed a little now. Using a k&N filterand a new air box. There is room there to run a turbo but how much power do u want in a 4x4. Im building another ute right now for my brother. The tranfer had to be moved back and im running the standed ca18 box.

was there much tunnel work? auto or manual?
How much jack shaft did you end up with - and how much further back did you move the x-fer?
I gather you ended up with a thermo on the front of the radiator?
Sump Clearance? What diffs did you end with / is it spring over?

im actually going to be doing a CA18 in my zook thanks to CA18ZUK's info on his swap, have also found the ca20 gearbox from a nissan pintara bolts straight up and is a shorter box so im hoping modified Driveshafts wont be nessacary.
