yeah I did the swap on my old 1.6 carby vit donk in my sierra. It was a straight bolt up practically, and I just changed the plug on the alternator, and all was good. I left the extra wide pully on the alternator, cause the vit donk is only a 4 rib wide or something like that?
Have a go mate, you will learn first hand then!
Cheers Superduki.

Are you sure you need a v pulley? I thought coilers had Multi V stock, and you have a vitara motor and these are often (always) multi V?
It's an easier (and better) job if your existing alternator is multi V - multi V belts cope with the load of the big alternator better.

i dont know what my 1.6 has ill check tonight
i just dont want to brake belts like some people have
i cant believe it clears everything fine just redrill and bolt in
this is a great upgrade
all i know is when i looked at it the sticker says mitishibshi 50a
i dont need this upgrade but thought it would be good to have
more charge power is always good to have

All the 110A alternators are multi V - you have to swap it to single V if that's what your block runs.
a single V belt is definitely marginal with the 110A alternator.

I've struggled with belt slip.
Note also that falcons use a wider belt than suzuki, so a suzuki belt doesn't fit 100% properly in the falcon pulley.

Hmmm. Never noticed that before, but just checked and you're right - Falcon pulley is maybe 1 - 1.5mm wider. Belt still seems to jam in there okay though.Gwagensteve wrote:I've struggled with belt slip.

Haven't had any audible belt slip and I'm pretty picky with squealing bits on my cars. Am running the EL Fairmont Ghia 110A alt - not sure if it's maybe higher quality / turns more freely than the Falcon 100A???

NO MODIFYING ANTHING BUT WIRES DIRECT BOLT IN FOR 1.6
lol came this close to new posting instead of reply.
Wideaz, looks good
Could you post a closeup pic of the ford sticker showing the part number and other details, it is visible in your third photo? Cheers
Also I'm trawling through all the 4pk bosch and ingram alternators to try and find a pulley that will fit on the ford alternator and allow a better fit than a 4pk belt on a 6pk pulley. Can anyone tell me the shaft diameter of the ford alt?
I may even find an different alt that comes stock with a 4pk pulley and is still a direct bolt up.
