Wow this thread has gone ballistic. good one sloth. I used timber actually i found a tree and a knife and wittled some. My hole aren't perfectly round but they do the job!

If your gonna stack em' they need to be made of timber and painted black so no one can tell.

They were black and stacked, but not made of wood, :finger:

Only if the poly blocks caused the crash. The insurance company would need to demonstrate that the accident would probably have been avoided but for the poly blocks - that, had the blocks been alloy, the accident could have been avoided.

Mate its all 100% legit. I provided documentation to QLD transport that the airbags were not effected, they seen this, inspected the vehicle and agreed.

From what I've heard it's been common practice for a while that high density polyethylene blocks with no crush tubes will be accepted. I think it was a member off here that ended up proving to QLD transport that crush tubes are not needed.

So much ignorance on the finer points of plastic, as with most regulations it's easier to ban something than determine what type of that something is suitable for a given application.

Then again we could always leave it to the engineers to decide if something is safe, they did afterall go to uni to learn their craft.

Cool something i can do to the GU..... buy only when day when 44" boggers are legal.

also you did it the best way too- get bodylift done as one of the first mods before anything else is modded its less hassle and inspection is very quick especially on a new 4b

You'll have to check out the GU's airbag system first I guess. The hilux has all of the SRS system mounted to the body, so nothing is affected.

As for quick inspection, not really, was still there for about an hour, and brake tests, steering etc. were still performed, even on a 3 month old vehicle.

raping arse was a figure of speech. no one wants to be raped by a fat guy in a suit holding a red pen. as long as its legit its sweet. qld tpt may hay slightly loosened their sphincters the last few years if they have its good news 4 every 1. I made alloy blocks for my 80 series a few years back, prefered doin it myself, cheaper, had lathe/tooling at work and wanted a SOLID block with no give or squash in the block itself. that LUX would be 1 of the best looking ones around. very impressive.

I used HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) on the Mav' with no crush tubes.

Interesting how Twisty's didn't need crush tubes though! Cool interesting!
