Anyone know if there's much of a physical size difference between these 12,000lb Tigerz and all the typical 9000lb winches for sale (ie Ironman etc)?

I'm keen on the Tigerz for the money purely for the 20kg weight difference with plasma rope, but 12000 is a big fk off winch for a 4Runner (though it is getting fat)

There can't be much difference. I just fitted a Tigerz11 12,000lb to a factory bar on a GU with no issues, except i had to flip the winch (upside down) for the holes and fairlead to line up properly. The drum still pulls from the correct side.

So basically when the winch is new (unused) with the rope spooled on, you have to respool it again before you use it??, and the black heat shrink near the hook should be threaded down the rope and put on the first run of rope clsest to the drumm and when respooling it should be done under load, and on a 30 deg angle???

yes re spool it so it(you should do this regardless of whether it is wire or synthetic rope, re spool under load otherwise it can tighten up when you use it the first time and the top layer gets pulled thru to the drum and gets caught up.)

also, the heat shrink at the hook end, stays at the hook end. the drum end already has a protective sheath over it. that big lump of heat shrink at the hook is easier to handle than the rope i find, and its where it is most likely to get damaged.

the chinese rate thier winches differently to the americans. a warn 12000 is huge, a chinese 12000 is the same as a warn 9000 in size. you will find all of these winches don't pull thier rated loadings.

Wondered why Hobzees auctions had gone. I would hurry but I need someone to buy my air locker first!

this is the same model

the new 2010 model will be finished january we hope ,,,new clutch on the same idea as the premier ,,working on a break in either the gear box or motor ,our only comcern is the lenght of the winch ,we must make it viable for every bullbar,,so we will see ,,the brake now is very good ,,for rope its not fully complete ,but we dont have any problems with rope ,,new solenoid,,better than what people call the heavy duty one ,which is still ok,, and then the new 9000lb winch ,which i discussed on the forums 12months ago ,,,2 speed winch,,28 mtres per min line pull with no load, its in this gear ratio for up to 3000lb ,,which means it really wont pull a vehicle ,,has setbacks with that ,,but quality winch ,,when pulling line speed is comparison with better winches ,, another winch company has ask us to try and get the ball rolling with this winch,,,
