4-6" and a shitload of guard cutting. The more cutting you do the less lift you need.

I have about 4.5-5" (3" spring, 2" body) have done some trimming on the guards and my 33's still rub!

You wont fit them without cutting the guards unless you want it to be ridiculously tall and unstable.

so you've also already sorted out all your gearing issues for this plus the engineering, brake upgrades and all other legal elements for this mod?

Very little.

It all depends on how much guard cutting you do.

2" BL, 2" Bumpstop space and then cut to fit. Lift the suspension just enough to have acceptable compression travel.

Bear in mind, there's 4.5" of lift in the tyres alone, so as set up above, you'll be about 8" or so taller than stock. That's plenty.

for 35"s you would have to run hilux/cruiser/patrol diffs or have chromo axles ect.. 33"s driven sensibly on standard axles will last o k if pampered when driven offroad.

Greg's car has a little bit of chassis rub with 35 13.5 Krawlers but has off the shelf 8" rims. It has stock steering stops - no spacing. Likewise the Q78's on my car are on very lightly backspaced wheels and I also have next to no chassis contact with stock steering stops, so my experience tells me that steering lock can be acceptable with 35's and reasonable offset.

I think the bigger message is that the complications of fitting 35's aren't related to lift height.
