Will I ever get a blue slip?

Post by fervit »

I bought and installed a new engine in my car, however, when I bought the engine back in May, I never got a receipt from the guy or anything. Do I stand any chance of getting the car blue slipped still?

Can't get in touch with him. I've only got his ebay account name, so I tried contacting him but I never heard back. I didn't buy the engine on ebay though.

I can't talk from personal experience, but I imagine as long as the motor does not come up in the system as stolen, then you should have no problems.

Maybe your best bet would be to go to a Blue Slip Inspection Station and ask the question before handing over your money and being rejected?

You can always do a dodgy reciept up from the guy that bought the motor of who ever the original owner was in the system whom you dont know.

Why not simply do a statutory declaration.

All I ever used to do was get my mates to sign me a receipt for purchase of the motor from them.

The authorities don't care who sold you the motor, if it checks out as not stolen they just want a receipt from you for bereucratic reasons.

It's a no sweat situation.

x2, the receipt doesn't need to relate to the person on the books for that motor, it just needs to be a receipt. AFAIK your mate originally bought the motor on ebay then sold it to you with a receipt.

Unless it was stolen.
This is not legal advice.

Last few cars I bought, the RTA didn't even ask to see the receipt.

As long as I had the rego papers signed off, they were happy with that.

bit different as the papers act as a reciept and proof of ownership. engine swap is a bit different, there are no rego papers so the receipt is the only proof.

but stat dec is fine.

Pm RN the engine number, get him to do a sneaky search to see if it's hot or not...
