Will I ever get a blue slip?
I bought and installed a new engine in my car, however, when I bought the engine back in May, I never got a receipt from the guy or anything. Do I stand any chance of getting the car blue slipped still?

I can't talk from personal experience, but I imagine as long as the motor does not come up in the system as stolen, then you should have no problems.
Maybe your best bet would be to go to a Blue Slip Inspection Station and ask the question before handing over your money and being rejected?

x2, the receipt doesn't need to relate to the person on the books for that motor, it just needs to be a receipt. AFAIK your mate originally bought the motor on ebay then sold it to you with a receipt.Struth wrote:All I ever used to do was get my mates to sign me a receipt for purchase of the motor from them.
The authorities don't care who sold you the motor, if it checks out as not stolen they just want a receipt from you for bereucratic reasons.
It's a no sweat situation.
Unless it was stolen.
This is not legal advice.

bit different as the papers act as a reciept and proof of ownership. engine swap is a bit different, there are no rego papers so the receipt is the only proof.4bdan wrote:Last few cars I bought, the RTA didn't even ask to see the receipt.
As long as I had the rego papers signed off, they were happy with that.
but stat dec is fine.
