[QLD] 2009 CQ Offroad Challenge
Moderator: evanstaniland
What a bloody ripper weekend !! even with very little sleep..
I reckon Davo and Brad deserve a special mention for getting this event to where it is today. Well done guys !
From an officals point of view I certainly picked up a lot this year..
Not much chance of us "not" holding it next year !
I wish those couple of Patrol work hacks would hurry up and become available ... I can see a project forming..

Well what can I say ? Another outstanding CQ Off Road Challenge !
I have been involved with all four challenges to date (to varying degrees) and I would have to say that this years event was by far the most demanding on Teams and Officials. I didn't spend that much time Marshaling on stages on the weekend (busy talking cr@p on the PA) but I did take the opportunity to speak with a lot of competitors and spectators over the course of the weekend. My lasting impression (by far) was how much the competitors enjoyed the event and how outstandingly well they conducted themselves.
I had a few Teams questions rules/interpretations on Sunday and they all approached it with a level head and in the spirit of "give respect and you will get respect". You have done yourselves proud - your actions are a credit to you, your families and the whole event ! Thank you !
If the definition of a successful event is "People enjoyed themselves" then I can truly say that the 2009 CQ Off Road Challenge was indeed a success.
There were many memorable moments for individuals and teams alike throughout the weekend. The award for outstanding "supporters" efforts clearly goes (at least in my opinion) to Team Deelux. Those poor b@stards had supporters sweating it out all day (and night) in disposable overalls - now that's commitment ! The boys hung in there 'til the wee hours to cheer their mates along - Well done !
I seem to recall that Team DeeLux were the only ones to get the GPS code word right too ... for those who missed it, it was L-U-X
A huge THANK YOU to all those who volunteered their time to make the weekend what it was - these events simply cannot survive without a dedicated band of helpers.
There's still a bit of tidying up to be done at the park but we should knock it over this weekend.
Bring on 2010 (but maybe not with 20 Teams)
Cheers ...
Vince.
