[FEROZA] Underbonnet question: what are these plugs for?

Post by wacky »

UPDATE: I should have checked the manual first, am currently reading the Harness/Wiring one and it gave me some of the info I needed - see below.

Hey all,

Just sitting here wondering what these few plugs are supposed to connect to under my bonnet/hood, in case they're important :)

Firstly, we have a 2-wire blue plug on the exhaust-side of the firewall, to the left of the green diagnostic plug - I can't see what its meant to go to, maybe someone can help. Click the images for larger version

Secondly, we have a single plug with a yellow wire, hanging at the rear of the engine, above the bellhousing on the exhaust side - I'm hoping this isn't to my coolant-temp sensor (?).

Lastly, 3 things I'm unsure of in one place: located behind the passenger-side headlight. A 2-wire brown oval-shaped plug, a large white plastic 10-pin connector and 3 red wires with varying colours on them (which a previous owner has cut and taped together).

2 of 3 ID'd: Brown plug is A/C Pressure switch, 10-pin connector is to A/C Pump

Any ideas? Thanks in advance to any replies, and perhaps others have some "odd wires" they need help ID'ing - ask here.

Cheers guys,
wacky

Do they look like they've ever been connected to anything, a lot of cars will have a few plugs in the engine bay that aren't connected to anything so that the wiring loom can be kept pretty standard between pov pack and top of the line models.
For example my 100 series diesel probably has at least 10 plugs like this.

The 3 red ones behind the passenge side headlight have been cut by previous owner and covered with tape then heatshrink, unsure what they went to.

Mine is an 1989 "EL", unsure if it was supposed to have aircon fitted but I was thinking maybe thats what a few of the wires are/were for.

Those things at headlights are automatic setting of lights height. There is a place (a hole) on dashboard for potentioneter that sets the height of lights. It is at the same height as the thing that open bonnet , but on oposite side of steering wheel.
