how to remove needle bearing from stub axle

Post by alki »

I've taken front end apart to do swivel hub seals and needle bearing is not budging.
What do you guys use to remove that bearing?

What I did was use a Dremel with a thin cut off wheel ( 25mm across and about .6mm thick ). I cut a grove across the inner race just being careful not to go all the way through. Then used a hammer and cold chisel in the grove to split the inner race open, this will make it very easy to slide off.

Just remember to use safety glasses and bearings are case hardened and can shatter.
